Margaritas

SOJA

Recommended Posts

My friend is going to the Jimmy Buffet concert in Raleigh and wants to make Margaritas really bad, he was looking all over the interwebz for the best recipe, but I told him to look no further than the collective intelligence of the huddle.

Anyone have any good recommendations? Good to note that we are in college so we can't buy patron or anything ridiculously expensive. We are above drinking Aristocrat tequila though, that is a guaranteed puking night.

What say ye huddle?

thank you in advance for any helpful advice

I guess if you are low on cash, you can get some of that margarita mix and just add the tequila....but try not to go cheap on the tequila. Someone at the abc store should help you pick something out (oh if you aren't doing shots, don't go with gold).

mix is more expensive. save on mix. buy real tequila. Sauza makes good margaritas.

cuervo is 1/2 sugar water, 1/2 grain alcohol with a little flavoring.

Sauza Hornitos, triple sec, lime juice, oj, sour mix.

skip the sour mix and add soda water if u want to cut back the sugar/heartburn.

This. OJ makes a huge difference in a margarita as far as taste and appearance goes.

DO NOT under any circumstance make frozen margs. Don't do it. No point...all the alcohol just soaks to the bottom anyways.

If you can afford it, buy some Grand Marnier to put in there as well...makes a big difference with just a little and will get you way drunker faster.

Sauza is a great one to go cheap with, but it is not 100% agave. You can step it up a little more and not break the bank with some Milagro or some 1800.

Just remember, the more expensive the tequila, the less of a horrible hangover you will have.

<-----forced to take tequila/margarita classes when waiting tables. Stupid restaurant, but I can walk you through the entire process of making tequila!

unless you keep mixing it....frozen is my favorite kind!!!

I'm with you on the GM though...a little splash goes a long way

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
