Does everybody here at the very least agree that Clausen sucks?

Awesomeness!!

Before the season started, he was in a great situation (other than having a certifiable retard as O-coordinator). Then O-linemen started getting hurt. Then RBs started getting hurt. By that point his great situation had deteriorated into a crappy situation for any QB.

Ground game got better, not worse. We have the best backfield in the NFL and Williams going to IR wasn't an issue.

You could of inserted Clausen onto any team and he would have made the OL look bad, killed the passing game and forced the d to look worse. Carr/Clausen QB play has proven to handicap everyone. The situation at the end of 09 wasn't much different....just had better QB play....and it makes a drastic difference

Regardless of the situation he was placed in (which is at times overblown around here) you always expect a game-to-game improvement from a rookie QB. Jimmy with his "pro-style offensive capabilities" alone should have at the very least carried him a good deal. Yet, he floundered in every game last season. Showed virtually no signs of improvement, and basically looked like a child playing a Man's game.

Jimmy could be saved, and possibly salvage his career. Just don't bank on it.

Sar, but Williams going to IR is always an issue. You can't lose a RB of his caliber and just brush it off. Stewart is good, but last season proved that he's not as good as Williams. I was happy to see Goodson get some real playing time, however. I can't wait to see what the new offense does to exploit him.

yes you can brush it off when you have a caliber RB like Stewart taking over w/ Goodson/Sutton behind him. The run game was actually performed at the highest level the past two seasons when DeAngleo was out.

DeAngleo going down simply isn't a logical reason as to why Clausen sucked. Stewart was a beast.....he is every bit as good as Williams when healthy. Only difference is Stewart will also play those games while hurt and DeAngleo has to go sit. Once Stewart got healthy, he beasted last season.

Stewart has proven how good he is when DeAngleo has been put on the shelf and been given the load. Look up his production. I think you are putting too much emphasis on the games he sucks it up and plays hurt......something most RBs don't do to the degree Stewart does (and did in college).

In 2009 and 2010 -

DeAngleo played in 19 games - Carolina averaged 131 yards a game

In 2009 and 2010

DeAngleo missed 13 games - Carolina averaged 143 yards a game.

That is the whole purpose of Double Trouble.....we don't miss a beat if one can't run. Clausen just stunk and it was amazing what Goody and Stewart did considering Clausen was orchestrating a passing offense in competition for one of the worst in NFL history.

Look at their YPC in games that Williams and Stewart both played in. Williams far out performed Stewart. Not only did he have a better YPC, but he did it in the first part of the game against the fresh defense. Stewart would often come in more during the second half. These are the things you notice when you actually watch games, and don't just rely on stats.

I never said it was a logical reason for Clausen not performing well. His being a rookie is a logical reason for not performing well.

I was just saying that you cannot brush off losing a RB of Williams' caliber, and I stand by that. Stewart and Goodson are not as good as Williams. I will argue that Williams has proven to be the best back in the league. You cannot lose that, and assume to continue without any setback.

Stewart plays hurt.....DeAngleo doesn't. Do you notice that when watching? I mean, it is a obvious difference when Stewart is healthy and hurt (or I should say hurt and just dinged). I think that explains part of it. Another part of it is Stewart's style of play works better when he gets a larger load and can punish.

The real arguement is that you claim a reason Clausen sucked is b/c Willams got hurt. I don't think there is anything to support that. The team has rushed for more yards when Williams went down. In fact, I would argue that Williams getting hurt helped Clausen. It gave Goodson more time and Goodson is a more friendly RB when you have a QB looking to checkdown every play (than anyone on the roster)
