Down to three guys???

Gantt had 3 names on twitter earlier. Cam and two others, Gabbert wasn't one of them.

I saw that too...if he could hate a prospect as much as he loves Armanti Edwards, then that would be Gabbert. Not sure if that's his opinion or how the organization feels as well. Then again he really seems to like Newton so I have no clue when it comes to Gantt...I would like to think he is objective but the love affair he has with Edwards kinda makes me discredit his opinion.

just my preference DT can be filled easier than QB CB

I tend to agree and honestly if we could get a decent veteran to play next landri and then maybe a 3rd pick to rotate in with Hayden it wouldnt be terrible. Don't get me wrong Dareus and a vet would be ideal but qb's don't just fall off trees.

Yeah but the quality of QBs in this draft doesn't compare to the quality of other positions.

A Solid group at DT is we draft 1-2 (either 1-3 rounds) and we sign 1-2 FA.

Landri is best used coming off the bench not a starter and Hayden I could care less(I like Nebllet better). We need 2-3 new DT on this team hopefully both are starters.

I have to wonder why people put stock into what various people are "hearing" when what one guy hears doesn't match up with what someone else does.

Adam Schefter says what he's "hearing" leads him to think Newton. Bunting writes that his "vibe" is either Dareus or Gabbert. Between now and then, someone else might start thinking we're leaning toward Peterson or Green.

And all of this with the people actually involved saying they're just beginning their discussions.

Oy :sosp:

You have to admit though the names are kinda starting to come together. At first Rivera said 8-9 names and then later it was 5-7 now is it that hard to believe it's down to possibly three? Fairley and Bowers have fallen off as top pick potential and even AJ Green has lost his luster (some feel he may not even be the first wide receiver taken). So there are three names potentially of the list right there. Throw in Mallet and possibly Quinn but I don't think he was ever in consideration. I think the list is easily down to 3-4 players at best IF they plan on staying at number one.

I'm not saying that these guys are the picks but I do believe that the list is down to these guys with the exception of maybe Petersen. If you don't believe that then it's fine but the same names keep popping up. I think Rivera saying they are 60% thru the process is probably accurate but if you can honestly tell me that with 4 weeks to go they haven't narrowed this down to 3-4 guys your insane.

It's hard to believe because there's still a month to go and the people making the decision only started meeting to discuss it.

That, plus Gantt would tell you the three he keeps mentioning are "his three" but the team is still looking at eight guys.

And funny, right after I post that someone will likely "feel" something else, someone else posts that Adam Schefter is now hearing things about A J Green

So basically you are telling me that with four weeks to go they haven't narrowed this down to less than say 5 guys??? Come on...they've been scouting these players since last year, watching workouts for almost two months, and personally interviewing guys for nearly three and a half weeks. But they haven't made any progress?

This isn't the CBA talks...and they don't have to worry about anyone "falling" to them. I honestly think that they know within 3-4 guys who they will take at number one if not down to two guys. Yes they still have to meet a lot of guys but that's to be expected when dealing with the draft and different scenarios. Don't confuse being prepared for any outcome to not being convinced on who the top guys are.

I have no trouble believing they'll give due diligence to every guy they're considering. It's how Marty Hurney works.

Rivera himself said the actual decision wouldn't be made until a few days before the draft.

I suspect it will be to sort out what if any trades may be in the offing before deciding to use the pick or trade down. They have to plan for any contingency and be fluid in their thinking right up to the draft.

That's all I'm trying to say...I think they are doing their homework but I'm certain that they know within a few guys who they ultimately will select.

Don't get me wrong...I respect Mr Scot and his opinion but I simply don't agree with him on this. A lot can change in four weeks but they have to prepare for an entire draft...not just the first pick.
