The debate is Cam vs. Not Cam, not Cam vs. Player X

As soon as Luck said he wasn't declaring, Newton became the #1 choice almost instantly. He actually had a lot of supporters even when people thought Luck WAS coming out.

Absolute tripe. He wasn't in anyone's vocab for the #1 pick until Luck decided not to declare and the other top picks started to be picked at.

Amazingly his sub-par performance in the championship game seemed to be the catalyst for talk for his #1 potentials.

That said almost every media outlet still had him as their 2-3rd rated QB.

It's not been since the last month and a half that those same media outlets are now proclaiming him the saviour of the universe. And people think the media are against him

AJ Green, Fairley, Dareus, PP, Gabbert, Bowers blah blah blah were all ahead of him.

Until his awful showing at the senior bowl Locker was ahead of him as well.

I think what the OP is trying to say is, I have tried to start two threads to generate conversation. One about PP and one about Dareus. Both positive.

They cycled through the front page in a couple of hours.

Other guys just don't get the blood flowing like Cam wheter you are a hater ir a hugger. He is just a polarizing guy.

Actually one if the best QB coaches in the NFL said even before Luck declared going back to school that the Panthers should take either Cam or Luck. So it was out there by some from the beginning.

for many, he was a disappointment at the combine.

also the rusell + fairley images started to show up which instantly frightened people, but I dunno how much impact that had

I watched the combine and people we're blown away by Fairley, he only solidified himself there. Dareus beat him in the 10 yard split but they were both very good in Indy and at their Pro-days.

I'm talking about on the Huddle specifically and not anywhere else which I thought would have been obvious since that's what I've been doing throughout this thread.

Sorry... This ISSSSS THE SAME fuging PLACE THAT WAS SHITTING THEMSELVES WITH ELATION IN HOPES THAT WE COULD PICK DERRICK fuging HARVEY...

If you didn't cry yourself to sleep at night at the thought of the pick NOT being Cam Newton, then you wouldn't give a fug who we picked in hopes that we pick the best player to help us the most... At this point, nobody knows who that is... Narrowing it down to one guy and defending him relentlessly is something not a single one of the 32 teams in the NFL will even do...

Excuse me while I pay no further attention to this illogical and pointless thread...

Niether Newton or Gabbert are top flight QB prospects. They are the best of a crappy group.

Keep wanting the best looking ugly girl in the bar....because at the end of the night you are still going home with an ugly chick.

As long as she sleeps with me it is a win.

I am still trying to figure out how or why it matters who any of y'all argue over. Unless one of you is Hurney and somebody else is Rivera. Seems like a lot of words telling me nothing, and why alot (<---for you JOAT ;)) of regulars aren't even posting in the Panther forum anymore.

    • Miami plays Cleveland and Atlanta has Boston.
    • There is a possibility that however people were measured it differs from what is being done elsewhere.  There were apparently a number of prospects that disagreed with their measurements at the combine... Maybe I just missed it but I'd never heard of this level of it before.
    • https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp Going by this chart that won’t get it done, at all.  both of our 5th rounders are worth 56, total.    The 51st is valued at 390. Moving to 41 takes 100 points. In the second where we are, it is basically 10 points per slot. You can get in front of TB for 60 points. Baltimore at 45.  Which who would do that for 56 points? You are on a wing and a prayer.    To realistically have a good shot at these top guys, outside of Golday, it is gonna take at least 100 points, I am thinking.  And when they go, Golday’s market probably gets a lot hotter.  Just going by the rankings/valuations, I am thinking if you realistically want to assure you get your guy it will take trading back in the first. Which is why I have been saying to do that if we can.  For example 19 is valued at 875. 21 is 800. That, plus one of the 5ths gets you to 100 points which you theoretically could use to get to 41.    I think there are going to be several good options for us at 19, if we are good with taking what is left at 21-23 we can get a good player plus fund a trade up for one of these LBs which is what I am thinking makes sense.
