he can he proved that in college, the question is when QBs refuse to study the playbook, Brett Farve and Mike Vick in the beginning hated studying each week

I Was being facetious, since there are so many huddle experts that seem to think he can't.

No more ludicrous than to think that a QB with a rating in the 20s and 50s in his Super Bowls is the reason they won them. Because that's really the only "proof" (as if such a thing were possible...this isn't a mathematical equation, it's all opinion) anyone has for Big Ben's supposed elite status, his rings. How hard does a QB have to try to not be the Super Bowl MVP if his team wins?

Man, I really hope the Panthers stand pat and decide to use the #1 pick on Cam. This is our franchise QB! This kid is going to be something special in the league.

I cant wait to see the rest of this

You took the words right out of my mouth.

I listen to people bash why we shouldn't select Newton. Character issues about Cheating and stealing a laptop. Questionable actions both made out to be much worse than they really were.

I listen to bashing about his accuracy and he doesn't have the mental capacity to be an NFL QB.

All he does is win. He has the desire to win, has the desire to be the best. I believe he will learn to read NFL defenses, I believe he will be something special. I believe that if we don't select him. In 5 years we will be the laughing stock of the NFL for passing on one of the premier QB's in the NFL.

Atlanta took Michael Vick who was primarily a runner with a lousy arm and he was a thorn in our ass for years. Cam Newton compared to Vick coming out of Virginia Tech is a better QB.

Have some faith, have some balls and pull the Trigger on Cam Newton.

He is our future.

Newton: Do want.

Newton could yield the highest reward possible for the risk of taking him at 1. The more I read/see/hear about Newton, the more I like the kid.

Same here. Seems like everytime someone makes a point that I agree with to take someone different. Newton impresses me again.

There is only one thing we should do. Do not force him in too soon. Let him learn about being an NFL QB. Defenses are complex and will confuse him early. Not that he won't learn them but would confuse any rookie.

The concerns about coming from a Spread offense to a Pro-Style offense doesn't concern me. Our coaches get big money to coach. He can be coached.

The Russell - Newton comparison doesn't hold water. Russell never protraited himself as a student of the game like Newton does.

He might be from a Different System but He will cause alot of trouble for NFL teams the way Vick did to us for many years.

DRAFT NEWTON.... YES MY FINAL ANSWER

    • I think you have to factor in that we're still not an attractive proposition for Head Coaches. You're not getting the cream of the crop if you fire Canales a year after winning the NFC South, especially considering the situation he walked into.
    • Yeah, I was about to say I hope he's doing okay health-wise because he's not looking good in that pic.
    • Honestly, I dont  think he should be on the hot seat yet. A bad start to next year, then yes. Despite our mistakes on play calling this past season, we played better than anticipated overall. Bryce showed improvement and maturity (although still not nowhere close to our expectations). Better record and 2-15 to 5-12 to 8-9. Despite what we feel the stats dont lie we are improving by 3 wins a year. Could 11-6 be our expectation. That's a high bar but at the rate we are going, thats what its looking like. We all want to see a 5-12 to a 13-4 record but we are methodically moving up. Success doesnt happen overnight (well in most cases).  IMO we are struggling mostly on the defensive end. LB and edge are our biggest weakness. I see Bryce making improvements (even though I was a Bryce hater) next year. Biggest concern is LT on offense. How to fix this? We need a big name edge or to trade up and get a big name edge or LB and pick up one in FA and draft one. Also if in the 3rd we can pick up a TE. Dont know if Sanders is the answer or Tremble (even though I love Trembles blocking and power after the catch). If these two can get their footwork together they would be great. Maybe all they need is a better TE coach. And if Brooks can stay healthy and be the back we thought he could be, man that would be great
