Nobody would put 10 people in the box vs Cam Newton

Awesomeness!!

Ok so there are plenty of things wrong with this post. first of all, we never had 10 people in the box (outside of goal line situations and such). second of all, if you look at how people will guard us if we have Cam, it will be very similar to how they guard Vick and VY. They will load up the box and make him beat them with his arm. So in all honestly, mobile QB actually increase the number of people in the box (or at least the number of players with specific run stopping duties).

PS. anyone who thinks Cam Newton is accurate, just watch grudens qb camp. none of the throws are actually right on the money. This is with no pressure and no moving targets. in comparison look at Mallett and Locker. Each pass is beautiful. This is just me saying why I think Cam will not be able to take advantage of the single coverage his receivers will see.

Some here fail to realize a stacked box more than likely means Smitty's one on one:cheers2: and better chances for Lafell, Gettis, and Shockey that should make the D back it up a little

All that applied this past year too except for Shockey.

Didn't help much (and I'm not convinced Shockey stays healthy all year).

Hate to say it, but Smitty doesn't strike the same fear in teams that he used to :(

(and no, it can't solely be blamed on the play of the QBs)

The only difference is if you put Cam in Jimmy's situation last year I'd bet everything it'd look a better than the pickles and his bullshit performance. There's two things holding Smith back and that was QB play along with Fox and Co.

I'm not of the belief that Newton starts this season if he's drafted.

That said, pretty much every rookie quarterback faces eight in the box. I doubt Newton will be any exception.

My thought have really grown on Cam. His potential is sky high and sure he can be a flop, but with offensive players around him that the Panthers do - this team will be extremely fun to watch if they draft Cam.

Whether they can win or not is a diff story.

yet more ignorance from the huddle. Cam is not a very accurate QB and is quick to run. There is a very strong possibility that he will be spied in his rookie year if not every year until he proves he can throw the ball at this level.

The OP makes absolutely no sense at all..sorry

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
