Cam Newton:Why Not?

With all the concerns about Cam Newton's ability to translate, just what exactly do people see out of these defensive prospects that A) have to learn to be pros, and play at this level B)how does improving our defense improve our last rated offense C)can people really ignore the fact that we NEED a QB, and that what Jimmy has shown wasn't much. D)we took a (supposed) best pro-ready prospect last year who didn't pan out.

So why not take the better polished prospect (in comparison to Vick/The Golden Calf of Bristol mechanics etc.) with Michael Vick-esque athleticism but with the proto-typical QB size. What do people see in our offense that says we will be good enough for years to come without taking an opportunity to address our QB need now. Is there really any better time to do this?

I understand that there is absolutely nothing to talk about, but I really don't understand why people feel the need to express the same thing in 6 different threads. I can see if there is news about Cam, but how many opinion threads on one person are needed?

Apparently several. If you prefer not to read/participate on the topic why waste your time posting? I don't know you or your interests, but if you have nothing to contribute to a thread other than to complain, why post?

Why not waste space in the thread, if people can waste space in the forum on another Newton thread. I felt like it. Don't do it as often as I used to, did this time. so :prrr:

Being that this is the #1 pick we cannot fail on the selection. I want someone with the least risk as possible. We have a glaring hole at DT. I'd like us to finally replace Kris Jenkins and stop using scrubs at DT. Even if Dareus doesn't end up being #1 caliber player he is still likely to be a good player and can at least contribute. Long term solutions at QB do not work this way.

We just drafted Clausen who may get better and I'd like to see Moore finally get a legitimate chance with the new staff.

Gettis and LaFell will be better and our offensive line will be back those are things that will make the offense better. Armanti Edwards will finally see some time and Smith will be healthy too. The new offensive game plan itself is likely to be an improvement.

    • XL out in Min trying to get better.  These guys working hard to win!!! https://sports.yahoo.com/article/watch-bryce-young-unleashes-dimes-184519544.html
    • Another layer to that is Ive seen Seattle has been in the market for CB help this off-season.   Michael had a higher PFF grade than Horn who got 15 games this season. He wants to be here too, that's a huge bonus for any 5 win team that had awful pass rush.  The 7th rounder Michael Barrett didn't last long on Seattle, he was cut before the season I think and ended up on browns PS. He's already been on 5.......5 teams within one year.......
    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
