Gruden vs King

Mr. Scot

LOL. Hopefully not but they did shut us down from playing at several websites with the indictment that came down a few days ago. Some are still letting us play for now. :(

You need to get some offshore accounts. You're a boss, make it happen. I have some friends that play professional basketball in France maybe you can use your basketball connections to get them to open accounts for you!

Face it Guys ,The number one question is now will panthers take Newton, not who will Panthers take. Why all the anger ,remember just a few months ago it was how much will we lose by,will we get to the 50 yard line ,will I watch one more minute of the worst football in NFL history.Ill have hope regardless of which way draft goes at least until the first game anyways . Lets ast least stay positive in the off season ,that may be all we have. GO PANTHERS

Actually the question was whether Shaun King pointing out that Jon Gruden never successfully developed a rookie quarterback damage the credibility of the "Gruden's QB Camp" program.

Or at least that's what the question was supposed to be :(

So I give you football reasons, and rather than actually address them, you redefine them as "hate".

And you also neglect the fact that these concerns apply to all the prospects, not just one.

In other words, doing exactly what I said you would do.

Congrats man. You just lost this debate big time :nonod:

What fuging football reasons? Your opinion is NOT "football reasons". They are not intangible facts. AGAIN, SHOW ME SOME PROOF BESIDES YOUR SLANTED OPINION.

I think what I've seen of his skill set won't translate to the pros.

What of his skill set? He can't throw? We've been over that... the analyists who have seen him practice in person has been all over that. He has a fast release. He has a strong arm. He has college stats as good on par with Phillip Rivers. There's nothing about his "skill set" that is troublesome.

I think that the transition from the simplistic offense he ran to one that's as complicated as ours is going to be will take too long.

Because he played in a simpler offense in college he AUTOMATICALLY can't learn a more complex one in the Pros?

That's NOT a football reason. Thats YOUR guess.

I think that we've already got enough young quarterback prospects and we'd be wiser to use our top pick on a different area of need and sign a veteran quarterback instead.

Again, if you believe the youth we have can become championship level QBs without adding real talent with another name in the mix, you're taking a HUGE leap of faith.

NOT a Football reason.

I think the quarterback crop next year will have more and better choices than this year's

That's insane, because we don't know what the crop will be, cause of injury or what not.

GET OVER ANDREW LUCK CHOOSING TO STAY IN SCHOOL.

I'm just going to end with this:

Newton is miles ahead of Mallet, Gabbert, or anyone else in this draft as far as measurables, stats, accomplishments, and dedication. You simply will not accept these facts.

Funny that Mr. Scot's "opinions" have been shared by a lot of other people, even those in front offices of NFL teams.

Not everyone has elevated Cam to God status like some here have, it's ridiculous that it means anyone who disagrees with you thoughts is a hater, or fearful.

Give me a frigging break.

All your opinion.

Lemme tell you a reason why I have a little trouble taking "your opinion" seriously.

You spent time yesterday trying to argue that Blaine Gabbert having a staggered stance was proof that he had bad footwork. You've many time said that the criticisms of Newton's footwork were unfounded. However, if you watch clips, you'll see Newton (whose footwork you defend) using the same stance under center as Gabbert (whose footwork you say is bad).

Throw that together with the fact that rather than actually debating points, you continually choose to attack the person making them, and it's pretty easy to see that your football knowledge is...shall we say...not so hot.

And you know what? That's okay. You don't have to be a football genius to discuss the Panthers on this board. If you want to have credibility in a football argument though, know what you're talking about or you risk looking silly.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
