Peppers is staying

The reason we trade him now is so his value is that much better, and is at it's highest point to date.

You don't make him play and risk him tanking it, how can you say him tanking it will hurt him? What if money isn't the issue and he REALLY wants out, how can YOU fail to see that as a possibility?

If he tanks it, it hurts us not him, if he really feels the way he says he does.

Not worth the risk, trade him while he is under 30YO.

I guarantee that Peppers will not be on the Panthers next year with a $17 million cap figure. I promise each and every one of you that. The only possible way he is on the Panthers next season, is if we match a long term deal that another team proposes, but even then, that would be incredibly stupid. Why want a player that doesn't want to be here?

Peppers is 99.9% out the door and the Panthers are 2 draft picks richer.

i actually would not mind seeing him play w us another year - seems to me like most people here cant stand the greatest defensive player our team has ever had, who wants to get more out of his career by changing teams (nothing wrong with that). he has also never bad mouthed us during this whole time. So as far as i see it, trade him if we can, if not im sure everyone on the panthers def will be glad to see him back

He'd be a horrible influence off the field. Who wants to be around a dude who completely wants outta Carolina? Wouldn't help to foster any team mentality. Would he even play more than half-assed during the season? No thanks.

I would not want that guy playing for the Panthers. Lets develop a DE during next year rather than watching Peppers play half-hearted and then leave. I'd take a year of development from Johnson or Hilee rather than Peppers. Give the young guy a shot to replace Peppers.

Screw Peppers. He doesn't deserve to play with Carolina with the attitude he's shown in the offseason. We don't need a guy like him on and off the field.

I agree with U as far as the greatest defensive player our team has had..however..he want's out and won't be back. If he stays, it will hurt him, i honestly think he'll be surprised 2 see what other teams think his worth is right now, then he'll realized that he messed himself up.

Dumbass stuff like this gives me a headache.

I think some of us need recognize agent talk. Agents are supposed to get their clients the most money they can. Football doesn't last forever.

Didn't we have to franchise Jordan Gross. Didn't it look like he was going to leave. Everybody is happy now.

I hate to see JP leave as we are changing our DC. Meeks may be for the defense what Jeff Davidson has been for the offense.

The Panthers are willing to do anything short of going to an all out 3-4 for Julius.

I'm an optimist. I hope he stays...

How is that dumbass? He is speaking the truth.

This is like the guy who breaks up with a girl, then goes around bad mouthing her to his friends, calling her a stupid bitch, *****, etc.

You gotta be more mature and know how to handle the situation.

THE TRUTH IS Peppers said he didn't want to play in Carolina no more. He didn't bad mouth the organization, or call out any of his teammates. He handled the entire thing very professional, but a lot of fans can't handle that cause they think it's personal where it is not. And saying he doesn't deserve to play with us or to even imply Peppers is a cancer is absolutely ridiculous.

Oh give me a break. We're fans. We're allowed to be a bit emotional about the players. It doesn't matter if it's personal or not. The fact remains that he publicly stated that the team wasn't allowing him to reach "full potential." And we DON'T need a player like Peppers. As I've said in many other posts, the Panthers organization has a history of shying away from drama whenever possible. It only causes the team to look ridiculous and keeps the attention shifted at a different direction than flat-out FOOTBALL. Right now Peppers is a drama story, as picked up by the media and his agent and will continue to be a story until he leaves the state.

So yes, screw Peppers. He is nothing to the organization anymore. So let's make all parties happy and help him see his way out of North Carolina ASAP.

Oh, and btw, saying "screw Peppers" is nothing even similar to calling an ex-girlfriend a "bitch or *****." One is quite more vulgar and demeaning.

And you want to talk about maturity? Coming from the guy who has an "Assman" avatar?:D

Yeah but calling him a cancer and saying he doesn't deserve to play is ridiculous.

It doesn't matter if it's personal or not.

Yeah it does, considering the words you used and how you just described being emotional.

The fact remains that he publicly stated that the team wasn't allowing him to reach "full potential." And we DON'T need a player like Peppers.

He said he wanted to go to a different team and play in a different scheme because he believes he can be successful. He never said that the Panthers did anything wrong to him or by him, and he never said anything negative about the organization.

As I've said in many other posts, the Panthers organization has a history of shying away from drama whenever possible. It only causes the team to look ridiculous and keeps the attention shifted at a different direction than flat-out FOOTBALL.

lol Jenkins was running his mouth awhile before he got traded, and the whole Carruth thing. But all of that is irrelevant cause Peppers isn't Jenkins and hasn't been calling out his teammates or anything like that.

Right now Peppers is a drama story, as picked up by the media and his agent and will continue to be a story until he leaves the state.

Stop being ridiculous, Terrell Owens and Jerry Jones is a drama story. Julius Peppers getting franchised is something that happened with 14 other teams. Also something that happens every single year with someone new. In the NFL, NBA, or really any sport.

Remember how Lance Briggs wanted to be traded and never play for the Bears again? Or Kobe Bryant wanting to be traded out of LA?

The truth is the FO has the ball in their court, Pepper's agent will tell him to talk big and act hard but they have no say so in the matter.

So yes, screw Peppers. He is nothing to the organization anymore. So let's make all parties happy and help him see his way out of North Carolina ASAP.

lol he is nothing to the organization anymore? Get out, he is the franchise leader in sacks, and probably the best defensive player of the franchise.

Oh, and btw, saying "screw Peppers" is nothing even similar to calling an ex-girlfriend a "bitch or *****." One is quite more vulgar and demeaning.

Yeah it is, not in the words you use but the way you use them and the situation they are used in.

And you want to talk about maturity? Coming from the guy who has an "Assman" avatar?:D

You don't get the reference, so don't comment.

I'll ask the same question here as in the other thread.

Would you rather...

- Accept less than ideal trade compensation just to get rid of him

- Hold on to him until someone knocks your socks off with an offer

Scenario one means you might not get fair market value for him, but at least he'd be gone and you could move on with whatever you did get (and the cap space).

Scenario two means you don't get taken by a bad deal, but you might wind up with no deal at all, in which case he has to play out the season and you pay him a cap eating figure.

Which route would you rather the team go?

    • As I've said numerous times the last few days, having Thielen on the field has literally 0% to do with my views on this (I've even said I think Renfrow is going to take a ton of snaps from Thielen anyways).  He has more value to this team without playing a single snap than a 2026 5th round draft pick does for the franchise.   His value is helping set up T-Mac, XL, Coker, and Horn for long term success by helping them learn how to be pros, how to go about their business, how to train, how to do all the little things that helped turn Thielen from a D2 undrafted player into a borderline Vikings legend.
    • He only wants to be traded because it's the Vikings who are calling. If he didn't want to be here, he could have retired, instead he took a pay raise to come back for another season.  I get it, it's an opportunity that he'd like to take, but we shouldn't cut off our nose to spite our face because he now wants to jump at this opportunity less than two weeks before the season starts. I'm not against trading him, I'm just against trading him for a return that doesn't help our team as much as having him on the roster would.  I'll put it this way, if a 5th is the best we can get for him from the Vikings and he's now dug in on not wanting to stay this year, I'm saying screw you and trading him to any of the other 30 teams besides the Vikings for the best offer we can get. He was perfectly happy here a week ago, if the Vikings soured him on that and then want to get him for peanuts, then screw them both.
    • Yes and no, he wants to go back and his wife most definitely wants to go back. He took a bunch of team mates to Minny and has worked out with JJ two offseasons in a row. It's where both him and his wife are from.    The money was basically a please come back and help Bryce. Pretty please...here's some more money.    Now he's agreed to a paycut to go back to the Vikings.
