It really sounds to me. If they stay at number 1 it will be more then likely Cam Newton. But if they are able to get a really good trade offer that is worth moving down they will take it. As for Steve Smith its 50/50 he could get traded and depending on how he feels about the team will have an affect on what his decision maybe.

wow so could taking Cam Newton #1 be a way to satisfy Smith? And maybe Smith already knows Carolina wont be taking a qb #1 and is why he proceeded to clean out his locker etc.?

Why would 89 want a QB thats going to take a minimum of 2 yrs to develope into a player?

Same really goes for D'lo and the rest of the vets. Their clocks are ticking, you think they have time to chill and wait for Cam to learn how to play in the NFL? (You Cam hardliners do acknowledge that he needs 2 years right?)

I always assumed when players mentioned QB this offseason, they were pushing for a veteran to come in. Guess I see it differently.

He did, he cleaned it out the week before the final game of the season.

then all this talk about Smitty cleaning out his locker this week is a non story.....

everything that we knew and though last week about Smitty hasn't changed.

If they feel they are going to get rid of Smitty, I'm almost convinced Green is the pick.

Have we even had him in for a visit? If you want to replace Smith you don't bring in a rookie, you bring in free agent veteran. With Smith's 7 million to play with, you can get somebody better than a rookie.

Its a rebuilding team. You are not going to be good in the league unless you have a pretty good quarterback. The team is young anyway.

    • I'd rather get a vet to fill XL's spot for a chain mover and give Jimmy Horn more reps since he's basically our Ted Ginn speed guy. T-Mac and Coker are locked in as the top 2. They honestly fuged up giving XL the start over Moore in the playoff game
    • I have been looking for a dropped pass list and all that comes up is QBs. And team stats. When I do receivers I get the passing stats for a handful that threw passes this year.    I wanted to be accurate but anyhow I was looking because thought I remembered reading where T Mac had more drops than XL this year.  One of you many smarter than me people here,I would appreciate it if you know how to pull that up, please do. Thank you.    And yeah I know that isn’t all there is to it I just thought it was interesting.  Of course what the hell is a drop lol.
    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
