The Pro Dareus crowd

I'm only referring to guys that played DT in the 3-4 in COLLEGE.

Also, do you have a link to these mock drafts that showed Dareus going Top 5 during the season? I'd love to see them.

Yeah thats way to much work.

Was just playing devils advocate anyways :p

Also, it's ludicrous to suggest that Dareus wouldn't get noticed in the 3-4. What school did he play for again? The defending national champs and the team that was mentioned by ESPN more than any other but Auburn throughout the regular season. It would be one thing if he went to, let's say, UCLA or Vanderbilt, but Alabama? Let's get real.

Okay, there were a couple random fans that had him in the Top 5, but even they didn't do that until well after the regular season was over.

My biggest point: Dareus wasn't dominant. He was never even a finalist for any major award and no overall #1 pick can say that at least since possibly Drew Bledsoe in 1993. He was never in any major mock draft's Top 5 until after his workouts, much less #1 overall. He was never anybody's favorite on this site until Nick Fairley fell out of favor.

Just say no to Dareus. Although I do like his HouseMD nickname.

McShay's first mock draft had him going #2 to us in November.

Kiper's first mock draft (in Jan) had him going #3 to Buffalo.

McShay has him as the #1 player on his board (or at least very high up - high enough he thinks we should take him) and he's not some random fan.

People on this site talked about him even when Fairley was a big deal... I distinctly recall certain posters saying "I don't like Fairley, would prefer Dareus" in the aftermath of the "WHO DO WE TAKE WITHOUT LUCK!?!? Nooo!" stuff.

Who was the last 3-4 defensive tackle to be drafted in the Top 10?

3-4 defence is realitvley rare in college so there wouldnt be alot to go on for comparison.

That fact that he was a nose tackle in college can explain the lack of impressive stats and the lack of awards most of which go off flashes, and stats.

I feel the exact same way about him, Nick Fairley and PP7. All great prospects an I understand how and why those guys are wanted but we have to do something to get our offense headed in the right direction. Starting at the most important position in today's NFL and one of our biggest needs should be the first priority imo.

Fairley shouldn't be in the same group as PP7 or dareus
