btw the redskins are still trying to trade up for a qb

Jason LaCanfora and Kara Henderson of NFL Network both report the Redskins are still interested in trading up to the No. 2 spot to land a top quarterback.

The Houston Chronicle's John McClain first reported two weeks ago that the Redskins were "trying like crazy" to deal up. LaCanfora suspects the Redskins could land Mizzou QB Blaine Gabbert by staying put, but has spoken with several GMs who believe they will move up to ensure that they get their man. GM Bruce Allen would have to surrender the majority of his picks to move up eight spots.

Like I reported months ago and Darin Gantt predicted in his final mock before getting "reassigned" to cover Winthrop.

There's hope.

You have to be able to trade players to get the cost of the #1 down.

The cost of a #1 is 3,000 points. (reference here), their #10 yields 1300. So if they were going to trade, they would probably go at 2 because it's 400 points less and since we are not likely to take Blaine Gabbert, so going #1 is unnecessary. Their #41 will yield only 490, so getting the labor thing even partially settled would make this deal much easier. I think trading with Cincy would be the best cost effective since it would only cost them the 10 and 41.

Brian Xanders will start calling Denver when we select Cam Newton, fearing a run on QB's. But unfortunately I don't think we will get the call.

Locker seems like a good pick for that offense.

I think a lot of people are agreeing with you which is why some people are smoke screening on Locker right now. There was a report today that the Niners love him. I don't buy it.

I don't think we trade the pick for a few obvious reasons:

1. There isn't one player in this draft who is the sure thing #1 guy.

2. Nobody wants to pay #1 money.

3. The Panthers have a high asking price from what I have heard from all the articles. We want a #1, probably a #2 and a 3 or 4 or 5 or something.

And that leads back to number one....nobody wants Newton enough or Dareus enough or etc. that they would give up all that just to pick #1.

Lets just call Washington up and say we are going to pick Gabbert with the first overall pick. If they really want him then they have to trade with us. If they give us their draft for the next two years I would be happy with that. Hell I would be happy even if we got a second and third out of it along with their first.

    • lol Honestly, it might sound dumb, but I've had this idea in my head of a specific picture I really want to get with him since draft night. Basically I want it to be of the two of us sitting on the floor next to each other with the picture from behind.  Ideally it would have been with us both wearing T-Mac jerseys (and me wearing an Arizona hat that has block A logo on the back of it too), but since they won't have baby versions of those for a bit and that does seem like a waste of money on something he'll grow out of in a few months, I think I'll go with this that I've found on Amazon for like 12 bucks........ I'll get this made with T-Mac's #4 but then my Nephew's first name (which incidentally starts with a T, so I've already joked to my sister that she needs to change his middle name to something with "Mc" or "Mac" in it so i can call him T-Mac lol) Just think that would make for a really cool picture for me to have of him at this age (just over 13 months now), with the two of us wearing our #4's.  It's the type of thing I can absolutely see myself getting it printed out by Shutterfly on one of those canvas like prints to hang on my wall. And seeing as they live in NYC with me in Michigan, not sure the next time I'll see him again as I can't just drive on down the street for a picture when the jersey arrives, so was hoping I'd be able to take advantage of seeing them at the end of the month to get this picture, but it would all be dependent on the jersey (and this custom onesie) being shipped in time.
    • Just wear another jersey and have AI photoshop it lol
    • His piece of the pie is only going to get smaller unless there are serious injuries.  Unless the actual pie becomes that much larger, ie Bryce being Kurt Warner, I don't think there's room for him to breakout.  Just like there's not room for JT Sanders to break out beyond a couple hundred yards receiving and a few TDs. I don't think a lot of people understand the volume that XL got last year.
