If we draft Cam, he would be 3rd on our depth chart behind a vet and Clausen at the starting of training camp.. he will probably only see the field in certain goal line packages similar to The Golden Calf of Bristol last season. Cam is a project, plain and simple. If you expect Cam to start from day 1, you don't know football.

Jimmy Clausen (a 2nd round pick) started 10 games as a rookie for us last season. Cam Newton (our 1st round pick) will start games as a rookie for us.

And lose for us,he will be no better then Claussen

You DO NOT throw another rookie into the fire

like we did Jimmy. We would be further ahead

to get Dareus and give Claussen another shot.

rookies are thrown into the fire every year.....and in scenarios just as bad as Clausen. Clausen looked worse than all of them.....all of them in recent history. Clausen deserves no shot at anything but depth.

Can't say he will be like Clausen when no one has been thrown into the fire and been THAT bad in recent history (and that includes late round and undrafted rookies)

who are these rookies that were thrown into the fire under the same conditions as clausen...and looked better?

Cam is better than Clausen. Cam is better than Clausen. Cam is better than Clausen. Just because Clausen crumbled under the pressure doesn't mean every rookie will. Clausen nor Moore have proven they can grasp this offense and stay healthy over 16 games anyway.

2010 - Skelton, Webb, The Golden Calf of Bristol, .....any rookie who started in 2010 and wasn't given starter reps in camp. Not gonna bother with all the years.

there is a long list of rookie QBs thrown into the fire that showed BASCIS that Clausen never did over the course of 13 games and 10 starts.

As a Cam fan you should realize that throwing him into the starting role too soon could drastically hurt his development.

Hasn't Rivera stated time and time again that he completely disagrees with the latest trend of starting rookie QB's immediately?

let's see...arizona is looking for a QB. minnesota is looking for a QB.

i guess skelton and webb's basics weren't enough for their teams to have any confidence in them.

mccoy and bradford are the only 2 2010 rookie QBs that are a lock to start again this season. The Golden Calf of Bristol might start (fox will bring in a vet)...and none of them played under the same conditions as clausen.

so where is this long list?

I didn't say those guys were franchise QBs and answers....I am saying they all showed more than Clausen did. Guys who SHOWED MORE, as you stated, their teams have no confidence in them and are moving on. You are basically proving my point.

Point is Clausen was worse than any rookie thrown into the fire in a LONG time......worse than late rounder and undrafted kids. I named several in 2010 alone.....

How about this, name rookies who Clausen looked better than and showed more basics of the position in the last 5 years......I named several from the past season alone who looked better than him (and no teams are counting on those chumps)....no point digging up every Matt Moore when 2010 sums it up just fine.

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
