The thrill of the draft sucked out of anyone else?

With today's ruling, what does tomorrow matter anyway? Under this new system the Panthers can't afford to buy a team to compete with the Jones' (literally).

We are past who's fault it is, bottom line we fans in the end are screwed unless we are fans of the biggest market teams with the richest owners.

From all I have read Nelson crafted the decision to be appeal proof and has in no way overstepped her boundary's or abused her power. The NFL attorneys must have gotten their law degrees online or in some 3rd world country because they have been wrong across the board on all of this.

Sorry to be a wet blanket guys but this really pisses me off. We will soon see nose bleed tickets costing 300.00 per seat to pay the 300-400 million dollar rosters etc. This really fuging sucks.

LOL, I think you're overreacting just a tad... the players want another CBA which will include a salary cap and salary floor, etc, because it's beneficial to the majority of the players. All this litigation is just a means to gain leverage towards a settlement, which will eventually lead to a new CBA, just like it did in '93.

you know there is still mediation taking place..the owners may be forced into a CBA deal now but it might be better the the alternative of losing it all..though the players might be really greedy vengeful folk who want the NFL to pay for what they've done and not care about the future of the game..you never know i guess.

Here is a little food for thought.....

Much of the CBA is built about max and mins....meaning max salaries and minimum salaries.....if there are no max or mins then unproven players do not receive guaranteed salaries, proven players receive the bulk of the payroll and filler players are paid for what they do, fill in. Vets are not required to make a min salary, meaning players like Moose are not forced into retirement because no one will pay the min for their services....it's an open market and fair market value determines player costs. This could actually help the owners in the long run, because they are not required to make such enormous leaps of faith on unproven players.

I hope a CBA is resolved, but even if it's not, it's still not doomsday for the NFL....the market will settle itself out and player values will eventually have a fair market value.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
