Drafting an "NFL ready QB" Vs one that "Needs work"....

Well he is a proven winner-- Not so much Jimmy Clausen (he was just "NFL ready) Cam has the build, the speed, and the ability to deliver the ball.

He will need work on his accuracy, but his pocket presence is awesome and he is big enough to see over the line and down field.

Everyone always bitches about the Panthers not taking chances, now we HAVE THE CHANCE and everyone is scared...

Screw it-- I am sure Cam could win us more than 2 games.

the one thing he HAS PROVEN is that he is a winner.

You dont go undefeated in the best conference in College football and win a championship without having the ability to carry a team and win games...

Nough said for me....

I still think you let him sit a while and soak it up- throw old Jimmy out there and if he does great then we have some serious trade value...

Not a bad position to be in....

Nope I'll be here, I just don't like the direction the board is going so I think it's better for me to stop posting for a while, not sure I can do it though.

Let me translate this statement for those late to the game:

"My credibility is tanked because I spent 4 months telling everyone Newton's not worth the #1 pick, and our team is about to pick him him #1 overall."

And you won't leave TRD. You spend more time on this board than most people.

And if you do? Well... you made your bed...

You do realize that IF he is picked #1, doesn't mean he is worth the #1 overall pick right?

Or does your brain not compute things like that?

A QB taken at the #1 pick shouldnt need all this work. He should need some tweaking and learning the playbook. Cam is a late first round pick that will get drafted #1 because Hurney is afraid to pass on him.

And if Hurney is taking him for that reason alone, he needs his balls replaced with a vagina. (No offense ladies)

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
