Our division getting scarier

Lumps

Falcons trading up to get Julio Jones

and

the Saints trading just took Mark Ingram

Two offensive moves to add to two already offensive powerhouses. Not really 'reach' moves IMO, not like the others. This scares the poo out of me. Seems the South is going to get stronger and stronger.

Newton MUST succeed or we will fail years to come.

That's why we couldn't have passed on a player with Newton's potential, we're gonna be going up against some juggernaut offenses in our division, Clausen simply doesn't give me much confidence.

You're right though our division with these young talented QB's may be the toughest in the NFC for years to come!

Yep, and I don't see how we can counter it either. Both paid dearly but got arguably the last cog in each of their respective machines to dominate for years. THe Saints needed a stud RB and the Falcons need a complimentary threat to Roddy White.

    • This is a toughie because I wonder what a guy like Canales thinks about redemption stories for addiction issues. Also, I think this is a case of 1 player getting caught, and not being naive enough to think this isn't more common in college than we think. I'd toss a 3rd rounder out there. 2026 is essentially a redshirt season regardless, so he's not taking over for any NFL QB next year. Best case, he's ready to go in 2027 if we pass on Bryce's extension. Worst case, he's our future backup QB2. Kid has the tools to be an NFL QB. I do think we could somehow land a '26 3rd round pick back in a trade. Our past years' third rounders are: Brazzell Princely Wallace DJ Johnson Matt Corral All this to say, I could see a team like the Jets going w/ a 2nd. They have three FRPs next year.
    • Alright man! We're here for it! Just glad you're keeping the doors open!
    • I think we've seen improvement in Bryce's performance. It still isn't up to world beater status, but in Canales defense, he can say that the limitations of the player were hit. I think he survives that even if Bryce doesn't. Still, I think it's a 50/50 shot for Bryce to make it. QB is one of the toughest jobs to do in the sports world, if not the most, so the failure rate is really high, no matter the pedigree. Heck, Archie Manning gets a lot of credit as a great QB but anyone who saw his career in motion knows he wasn't really that good and he was surrounded by bottom of the bowl players. He did get it figured out with his sons, though. That grandson... maybe.
