Draft Day 2 Options

Assuming we still just have our 2 picks in the 3rd and none in the 2nd round, I preferably want either an Offensive Lineman or a Defensive Tackle with the first pick in the third. I wouldn't mind getting 2 DT's in the third since that is our next biggest need besides qb(addressed through our number 1). If we get those two dts in the 3rd I will be very happy and I won't care much about the other picks we make in the draft, although I would like to see a CB, TE, and an OT.

****Fix: if kyle rudolph is somehow still available by the first pick on the 3rd round, I wouldnt mind us picking him.

I really don't like any of the receivers left, hopefully we bring back DeAngelo along with the addition of Newton Smith will stay one more season. Doubtful but I hope.

I like Kyle Rudolph, Stephen Paea, Marvin Austin, Brandon Harris, and Johnny Partrick.

Not that I would move up into the second round to get him. The WR from East Carolina D. Harris is going to be a sleeper. If he were available at our compensation pick or round 4 I wouldn't mind seeing us pick him up.

Kenrick Ellis of Hampton is probably not even an option. Local espn station was talking about how he has to go to trial for malicious wounding here shortly! He was one I wanted!

Would love to see us walk away with Stephen Paea, however, I think he will be New England's next pick

We are missing four starters at RG, C, and both DT positions. I think there is no doubt we sign one FA DT this offseason which would leave us with three holes. I still dont know what is going to happen to Smtih so as of right now I will leave him there. I think best case scenario is the following:

1. Draft the best DT round 3 first pick

2. Draft a guard at the end of round 3

3. Sign a free agent DT

4. Bid next years second or third for Jenkins the CB from Florida

    • It will be really interesting to see how both sides handle this. I'm sure the team would love to get him signed to a 4 year deal based on his output so far and some potential factored in, i.e. something like a 4 year $30 million contract.  But I could see his agent telling him the best path is to take the one year offer, put up a big year next year and then really cash in. The team also has to keep in mind T-Mac's 2nd contract, which likely will happen after the 2027 season assuming he keeps improving as expected.  Even if we could get him on a budget 4 year deal for what he could become, the problem then becomes when he wants to re-negotiate in 2 years during the same summer we will extend T-Mac, and you don't want to spend that much on WRs in one offseason, just see the Bengals this last year. Taking everything into consideration, I'm thinking the 1 year deal and then getting him to sign a 4-5 year deal after hopefully say a 800ish yard season next year might be best for our cap situation and separate his and T-Mac's negotiation periods.
    • And yet jax made it no further than we did, and its very possible the Pats don't either. I think it speaks more to the overall down year for the nfl as far as having great/dominant teams, every team this year has fatal flaws that can be exploited
    • Ehhh I agree the nfc is stronger this year but their really werent any truly dominant teams this year everyone is flawed, I think the narrative for the NFL this year will to try ahd force a Josh Allen SB win
