What if Clausen wins??

Recommended Posts

What do the Panthers do if Jimmy Clausen wins the job in the preseason.

What if Jimmy's problems really were the lack of coaching, lack of play calling, lack of preparation, Otah's absense....

I have heard the argument that Jimmy was not completely to blame, so it is not out of the question that he comes back this year strong. If Jimmy does turn out to be more than servicable and Newton Can not win the job, how does the organization approach this situation??

What if pigs fly....... I could see Jimmy turning things around this year with a new OC, new QB coach, and the best motivator on the planet - competition.

So, who do we trade? Do we trade? Whats the huddle's opinion (prob that Jimmy will never be good) but, what if?

we'd have a good problem on our hands, don't trade away good players unless they are detrimental to the team.

If Clausen comes out on fire next season we better not trade him unless we KNOW Newton can do what we all hope he can do. How would we all feel if he does great somewhere else and Cam busts?

Trading a *laughs* pro bowl Clausen away for an unproved QB would be a huge mistake IMO.

Clausen COULD prove to be a valuable person to let Cam sit a year.

it's not out of the question, and no rational person would try to argue against that.

the Playbook is the same for Clausen as it is for Cam. Expect both to have a dumbed down version because both are new to it.

Clausen may turn out to be bad, but the only people pretending to know anything are only guessing.

If Clausen plays well then we stick with him... duh.

Lol @ best case for Rivers/Brees by the way. They let Brees go who is now a SB champ and they kept Rivers who is continuously choking year in and year out...

Thats definitely not true. Rivers is one of the best QB's in the league. I would trade Newton, Clausen, and next year's first round pick to get him. San Diego chokes because Norv Turner is their coach.

yeah, because he had no receivers all year and was on fire all year long.

why are *y'all even football fans when you don't even watch the FUCKING game?

if you have trouble deciphering what is on TV, ask for help! go to a sports bar and tell the drunk guy next to you that you have a medical problem that doesn't allow you to recognize the game called football and like a guide dog, they will help you!

*y'all = referring to posts from people that aren't even in the same ballpark of accuracy.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
