Does Newton get it?

I think he's just tired of hearing this crap, and it's probably a good thing. I want a chip on his shoulder. It seems to be motivating him to prove everybody wrong. He definitely cares about football. I think that is the difference between him being a bust or a superstar. I feel good about the later.

The funniest was yesterday. Three of the afternoon shows all took time to bash Cam for "wanting Clausen's #2". As in, Cam showed up and demanded it. What none of them know is that Cam never did this. It was the media who prodded him, and asked him if he might like that number. Cam said yes he would like that number (if offered, or he could buy it, etc). Then ESPN twisted it into a diva having to have his old number.

I do to but what worry me is that could all that negative criticism drive him to not been as good as he wants to be.

understatement of the century, and has been true for a long time now.. If I didn't have the NFL network to get my NFL fix, I don't know what I would do..

I don't know how TWC people get by...

thats why i am always on here :o it sucks not having NFL network.

Thats why I will just get another number so people will stop talking about it. Because he will get criticized for any lil thing.

The hate for Killa Cam is just as strong on NFLN :nonod:

Who cares though we all expected this if you didn't where were you all last year and leading up to the draft. They love to hate this kid and he steps up his game with his back against the wall. Can't wait til he proves all the doubters wrong and watch the haters jump on his d**k (no homo) like they have been fans all along.

you all should ditch time warner and get a decent cable/satellite company..

Time Warner is light years better than ATMC which is the only thing available in Brunswick county and a few other counties around Wilmington. Expanded basic cable with no movie channels, 1.5mb/sec DSL (WTF?) internet, Local only phone without caller ID and no long distance= 160 bucks a month, and if you just want the internet it's 90 bucks. There's no other internet or cable options in the counties that they service.

I was so happy when I moved closer to Wilmington in March and was able to get Time Warner. Believe me, it's not the worst out there.

You're gonna get out of the interview what you wanna get out of the interview. I thought he was very honest, but very positive. I think he answered alot of questions up front and didnt shy away from his past or what he needs to do to move forward.

If you're looking for something negative about Cam, then you're going to say that he sidestepped responsibility...

All He's saying is... I didnt call the plays, I just executed whatever the coaches gave me... LIKE I WAS SUPPOSED TO.

Cam Newton may have the charisma of Obama, but he commands the English language like George W.

First he was a thug. Then he was too arrogant. Then they question his work ethic. Then he was too stupid. I havent seen ANY college athlete come under this much scrutiny... some of it is warranted... but even if the kid does something well... He's being fake or phony?

This is beyond "hater"... this is some borderline ex-girlfriend type crap.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
