How good will Cam be this year?

It's funny, if the panthers had picked dareus most people who wanted cam would have been fine...but since it was cam some of the anti cam guys are just waiting for him to mess up. You don't have to be a fan.

There would have been just as many "Pro Cam" people who would have been upset about us taking Dareus and been waiting for him to screw up too. Just how it is.

A lot of people get lumped into the "waiting for Cam to screw up" camp because we aren't spitting insults at anyone who doubts him... Personally I see reasons to be concerned but I trust the FO to have made the right choice, and I'm looking forward to seeing him play. That doesn't mean I'll just shut up and keep my opinion to myself in the mean time while people who think he is going to walk into the league and piss Superbowl trophies continue to talk (not saying most of you are like that :P).

If you were a fan, you'd realize we can only go up from here and stop being a dingleberry about not getting your way in the draft.

While I am confident we will go up, we could most certainly be worse.

Our offense could be just as bad and our defense could again be injury-ravaged and weak at key areas. =| I don't think it'll happen but I am worried our defense may not play as well as hoped by some. Also we aren't playing the NFC West this year =(

One thing that I've noticed about Cam... is that although he isnt an English teacher... he's very aware of whats going on around him. He knows whats happening on this team, He's aware of the personnel, the players, and what this organization stands for.

When approached about having his name on billboards in Japan by NFL Japan... He offered his thoughts and prayers to those in Japan.

JR said that Cam Newton was the first prospect to ever write him a thank you letter for inviting him for a meeting. That says something to me about his initiation and his preparation. Im hoping that this transfers to how he leads our offense.

I'm not a big fan of being a prick just for the heck of it (and have said as much to Real Deal) but banning him? For what? Expressing his opinion? Being a smart ass? Seriously?

Does he go overboard sometimes? Sure, but looking at some of the other stuff I've seen posted, It'd be pretty hypocritical given what's been allowed to pass here :nonod:

Are you guys deliberately trying to recreate the AFMB or is that just a consequence of the way things are run?

    • I am trying to remember when I EVER said reach for need. My thing if someone falls you jump, if you can trade back a few slots and get help at the right value and pick up some ammo to move up from 51 which I think is outside the money zone, then you do that.   Take a WR later. Plenty of capable WRs have come from the 3rd round. Though this year I would go for C there if there was a reasonable choice. Take a TE if you must. I see more reason to take WR than TE. I think you give guys drafted two years ago and last year a chance to develop before cancelling them.    I think it is kind of unrealistic to throw everything all in on offense in hopes of going deep in the playoffs after an 8-10 year, even if it did have some nice bright spots in it.    And outside of this argument but relevant to it, I am bothered by Canales and Morgan and their apparent posture that we have arrived and are now in the big boy club. I don’t know where that comes from. They are out there talking like they are winners at 8-10. Backing into the playoffs in a real convoluted tie breaker scenario. They had some good games, yes. But the big feather n the cap, the LA Rams matchups, did you see what the Rams did? They didn’t fire the coaches but they fired their defensive backs. Bryce beat them yes, and it was pretty, but it was kind of like the Bucs and Mike Evans picking on our decimated secondary in 2022. Someone (Wilks) went down for allowing that to happen and they went down in LA too.  Wr aren’t as good as a whole lot of homers think we are. Shore up the trenches.    I think too many fans buy into it because they are so starved for anything that looks like a winner.
    • How exactly does one win OROY "by default"? Wouldn't winning the award mean that of the two, McMillon stayed strong the entire year while the other guy didn't and fizzled out? That's like saying Secretariat only won by default because the other horse stopped moving midway through the race. Absolutely zero logic in that statement, which makes me very glad that I've never really paid much attention to Walterfoozball.
    • I agree, teams in the past have fired the HC in order to retain a coach on staff...hell it happened to Mcderp this year, rams in the past and Im missing another.  The fall off for the Panthers team defense was huge once Mcderp leftd and Ron could not fix it even when he named himself DC.
