Matt Moore on his fate with the Panthers

Moore wasn't given any faith and they were looking for a reason to pull him. Who says they wouldn't have signed someone if Clausen didn't fall to 48. They were always reluctant to play Moore even when he was playing well.

Because the FA period had past.

Usely in a normal season the Big FA period starts before the draft.

Plus JR wasn't signing any big FA in that Offseason anyway. He was cutting Payroll.

No matter what you say this was Matt's team. If he had did half of what he did at the end of the 2009 season Jimmy wouldn't have saw the field. If he had not sucked all Preseason then in the Giants game. Fox would have stuck with who ever was winning him games. That is all he cared about. Neither Matt nor Jimmy was that's why you had musical QB.

Just listened to the interview...interesting how he said he'd been throwing for a while now when other people here were telling me he wouldn't be able to start throwing until May.

TheRealDeal, how do you know so much about football?????

On a serious note, he handled the questions well and didn't say he didn't get a fair shot and took the responsibility that you have to play well when you get a shot, no matter if it's a fair shot or not.

Back to hating.

This is one thing I agree with. When you get your shot no matter if it's fair or not you have to perform.

Moore was an undrafted rookie who was never even good enough for a practice squad. Matt was one of Marty Hurney's biggest mistake that cost us 2 seasons of mediocre play at the most important position on the team. At least Marty learned that lesson..

Matt was never going to be a great QB and could hardly rate as a adequate QB. As a backup he was cheap insurance and just like cheap insurance, you quickly find that it wasn't worth the money you paid for it.

Honestly I can't figure out where the love is for this middling QB. He accomplished next to nothing, if he hadn't had a great game against the Giants and the Saints in 2009 I'd be comfortable in saying he was a bust.

Let's just stop this self mutilating desire to "give Matt another shot". It's over for Matt, at least for his stay at Carolina.

How exactly did Moore cost us 2 seasons of mediocre QB play?

That's just something players say. He probably knows in his heart he didn't get a fair shot but would never say that because he isn't that type of guy.

But I'm glad you agree, now I can sleep good tonight knowing someone as illiterate as you actually agrees with me.

Him or Pike didn't receive a playbook. Only Clausen and Newton.

The Panther's don't seem to need Matt Moor anymore. You don't take a QB #1 overall to have a bunch of QBs that were the team's past. I don't feel any of our Qbs qualify as a teacher in the short time they played, under Fox at that. If you want a mentor go get some old ass dude like Bulger.

Moore may never be great but I cannot discount 2007 and 2009 as flukes when Jeff Davidson was our offensive coordinator.

2010 I don't think any QB would have made a difference. Manning, Brees and Brady. Manning because he is one of the few QBs since Unitas to call his own plays. Brady and Brees because they can flatout play.

Moore I think would do extremely well in Chudz offense (if it is based off the SD offense)

Moore will be on an NFL roster, in fact I would not be surprised to see him go back to Dallas.

I didn't agree with you. I agree with what Matt said. So I hope you have many sleepless nights because me agreeing with you will never happen. I can't wait for your ass to be a fan of another team. Hopefully sooner then later.:hurray::hurray:

    • Seriously? A CB who missed all that time on his rookie deal and was also a top 10 pick when the guys picked right before and after have been studs. A RB our GMs tried to replace with FAs and 2nd rounders and two backup level players is one of the best drafts we’ve ever had? I’d argue that the 2011/2012 drafts were better even with just Cam and Luke/Norman. Here’s the drafts I think were better: 2017, maybe 2018, 2015, 2013, 2011, 2012, 2008, 2007, 2001, 2002 (just Pepp) I’m hoping 2025 is way better as well. Honestly, we’ve kind of sucked at drafting overall and that’s the only reason you can even remotely call Horn, Hubbard, Tremble and BC a good draft let alone one of our best ever. Good teams that draft well would laugh at that as a great draft. If you want to look at say the 2023 Lions draft, you’d get 4 stud/above average/average starters not just 3 replaceable starters/backups and a top 10 pick that missed half his games. That’s a draft that helps turn a team into a playoff team. Our record since our 2021 draft is 19-49. A best ever draft doesn’t go 19-49.
    • I remember when football was great.    Wasn't this century.
    • Bingo. You can't pay that type of player elite franchise QB money. That average starter type player can excel when he's surrounded by top shelf talent in a great offensive system but pay him elite QB money and you're going to really struggle to surround him with the type of talent you need to carry him. You pay those elite franchise QBs because they can carry your roster. You can't pay guys who have to be carried. Bryce showed glimpses down the stretch last year. I really hope he keeps building on that. But before we back up the Brinks truck he needs to show that he's the type of QB who can lift up and carry the offense because when you pay those guys that's what they're gonna have to do.
