Cam 5th most famous face in the NFL already???

Recommended Posts

Rivers and Ryan might be elite QB's, but I don't think they are famous faces outside of big NFL fans. I could ask my wife's friends to pick Manning and Brady out of a lineup no sweat, but they couldn't ID Rivers or Ryan. Maybe Cam now, but there's an obvious bias there.

i think Rivers is a famous NFL face, take away bias and i cant say he's top 5 famous face, i only mentioned QBs. Larry Fitzgerald also is a famous NFL face, Newton is a famous NFL face, but i just cant say he's top 5 yet.

I'd say Newton is more recognizable than Rivers or Fitz, easily. I don't think it's even close.

"Deserved level of fame" wth does that even mean? VY's not famous at all, I seriously doubt anyone who can't name every starting QB in the league or doesn't follow Texas college football could point him out. Are they saying that Cam doesn't deserve any more fame than your average QB? If so, why pick VY? I smell racism.

On a more serious note, how many of these other guys have been chased by the paparazzi like Cam already has? Serious question, I don't follow TMZ or any of that garbage. I only know they went after Cam because of this forum.

Disagree because Fitzgerald makes the Cardinals recognizable and is one of, if not the best reciever in the NFL with Andre Johnson a close 2nd. As for Rivers, he came out of a draft full of QBs that included Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger and i think both of those guys are more known and recognizable faces. Newton is going to be recognized, dont get me wrong, but i cant say he's top 5 with many other players being more known.

I know. He's everywhere! If he turns out to be a bust, then he'll be a major bust. The media will see to that.

And for the record, I'm a huge Cam fan. Not only because he is a Panther, that's just an added bonus. I loved him at Auburn as well.

well ask Cardinal fans or fans in other states and they can pick Fitzgerald out of a lineup quicker than Newton. Sorry, but that's my opinion. i think Newton's face is popular, no doubt, but not over Fitzgerald and others i have brought up

i wouldn't ask cardinal fans, because of course they would recognize his face.

as far as fans in other states...i doubt they would find fitz more recognizable than newton. they might recognize the name...but the face isn't particularly.

i'm not all that much of a casual fan. i'm really familiar with pro players and have been for years, still...i've got no idea what these guys look like when the helmet is off. i doubt most people do.

disagree or not, more people are going to recognize newton's face quicker than fitz. newton's just a popular figure and he's getting a whole lot more publicity than fitz. probably safe to say that newton has gotten more publicity this year than fitz has gotten at any one point in his career.

Exactly. I'd add he simply has a face you don't forget and spot instantly, regardless of accomplishments, publicity or even good looks.

For example, I bet I'd recognize Willem Dafoe at an airport before, hell, just about anybody.

    • As I've said numerous times the last few days, having Thielen on the field has literally 0% to do with my views on this (I've even said I think Renfrow is going to take a ton of snaps from Thielen anyways).  He has more value to this team without playing a single snap than a 2026 5th round draft pick does for the franchise.   His value is helping set up T-Mac, XL, Coker, and Horn for long term success by helping them learn how to be pros, how to go about their business, how to train, how to do all the little things that helped turn Thielen from a D2 undrafted player into a borderline Vikings legend.
    • He only wants to be traded because it's the Vikings who are calling. If he didn't want to be here, he could have retired, instead he took a pay raise to come back for another season.  I get it, it's an opportunity that he'd like to take, but we shouldn't cut off our nose to spite our face because he now wants to jump at this opportunity less than two weeks before the season starts. I'm not against trading him, I'm just against trading him for a return that doesn't help our team as much as having him on the roster would.  I'll put it this way, if a 5th is the best we can get for him from the Vikings and he's now dug in on not wanting to stay this year, I'm saying screw you and trading him to any of the other 30 teams besides the Vikings for the best offer we can get. He was perfectly happy here a week ago, if the Vikings soured him on that and then want to get him for peanuts, then screw them both.
    • Yes and no, he wants to go back and his wife most definitely wants to go back. He took a bunch of team mates to Minny and has worked out with JJ two offseasons in a row. It's where both him and his wife are from.    The money was basically a please come back and help Bryce. Pretty please...here's some more money.    Now he's agreed to a paycut to go back to the Vikings.
