Who will the Panthers bring in to help on offense?

i don't know about who they will bring in but these guys are entirely possible and likely.

sidney rice

malcom floyd

braylon edwards

lance moore

more likely one of the top three. chud has experience with floyd and edwards. rice is a local boy. all three fit the mold of the big receiver that has been used a lot by chud/norv turner.

i'd also be looking at top OG candidates and we may also go after a top RT as well, depending on how well otah is doing.

i don't see much past that, mainly because not much is needed. i have very little doubt that richardson will open up the purse strings. rivera and chud are going to be able to get the guys they want.

We could do a Vincent Jackson for Steve Smith swap of disgruntled receivers. Some offensive linemen to give that unit depth and five legitimate starters. And maybe upgrade at fullback as Fiametta hasn't dominated.

FB won't play a bigr role like it did with fox. i don't see us using more than one back in the backfield much at all.

I'm talking about somebody to compete with or replace Fiametta. I doubt we'll keep two, but fullback was an important position for Chud when his offense worked. I think a lot of people just remember the big passing plays that year, but they had a lot of success running the ball out of an I formation with Vickers and Jamal Lewis during the season.

I think we will get a new WR too but I think we are gonna lose Smith so at best that will be a wash.

There are ways to add to a roster and improve the talent on a roster without exchanging players though and it can come from things like growing up and taking advantage of more experience, getting a coach anxious to make a name for himself, getting our players back healthy, or having them work in a system that suits them better.

I don't see big splashes on O.

If we can land Coefield, V Jackson and a nice vet QB I will be very happy. CB would be nice but seems only superstars FAs that are worth anything Panthers never sign them, who knows though with all the money JR saved and players he cut it's probably possible to sign them all.

Panthers need to resign before doing anything in FA IMO.

I agree I see FA being use more for Def. not O. Maybe a WR if Smith is gone and a vet QB. But most of FA money will be spent on resigning our core players and Def upgrades at DT and CB.

This is going to be such an insane FA market. The CBA gets signed and 5 minutes later it's a bidding frenzy. Teams will want to sign their target FAs ASAP, especially if the lockout doesn't end soon.

    • As long as Morgan is the GM, Young will be the QB. Young is 100% Morgan's guy. The contract extension is pretty much guaranteed unless Young suffers a career ending injury this season.
    • People really need to stop placing Dan Morgan on some kind of infallible pedestal. He is absolutely in lockstop with Tepper regarding Bryce and has been all along. As far as the team being okay with 185 passing yards per game. We better have a proven monster RB in our backfield then. Presently that guy is not on the roster. Chuba has one outlier season so far and the other guys have proven nothing. Not what you would call a great recipe. The only thing we can hope at this juncture is that the highest paid OL in the league for the second year in a row elevates their play from last season and opens up some massive holes even our RB's can get through. But it still doesn't resolve the issue of predictability. With no viable passing game it is much easier to shut down any run game. No defenses are scared of Bryce's arm. It is what it is.
    • i lived in Atlanta from 84'to 92' & back then it was indeed a very different time without the internet & access to information 24/7. shortly after i moved back home to western NC around 93' or 94' the Carolina Panthers were awarded an NfL franchise & began their inaugural season in 95' so ike you i have seen the Carolina Panthers, ,the NFL ,technology, fans all evolve over the many a moon & years now some for the better & others not so ...just saying
