NFL coaches file brief to support players

This is absolutely zero surprise, and means nothing for the lockout or the status of the NFL.

The NFL Coaches Association was fostered by the NFLPA* when it started up. The two groups are very, very closely related. Hell... the NFLPA gave the NFLCA some of it's office space in it's infancy to get going.

So this means little.

Haha the coaches and assist coaches are now in on the CBA fight with the players. Now the Owners will lockout the coaches aswell along with the players. LOL Great now no one has a job in the NFL no more. Close the whole damn thing down . :D

Bottomline both the coaches and players are now getting sick of the owners BS. The players just want the same CBA they had for years now and the owners refuse to do it. Owners seem to be the ones causing most of the problems right now. But bottomline bothsides have gone to far and they need to stop acting like a bunch of whining bitch ass kids and go back to the table. All this fighting ain't getting neither group a big edge over each other to be honest.

How many associations are there involved with this thing?! NExt we will hear that the agents association is butt hurt because their players aren't getting their bonus money.

I have a genuine issue with a small group of mainly retired or on the periphery players heading up 1000's of players. There is literally no way they have the best interest of the majority at heart and are simply pushing for the most money they can get.

It wouldn't surprise me that if this draft class see's the highest percentage of players hit free agency after their first contract, as they are all going to be operating as if they were holding out for the whole pre-season.

The whole issue with them wanting more money, is that the biggest slice of the pie will go to the top earners, with the minimums being increased ever so slightly.

I'm really tired of hearing about how the lockout is "harming careers"... please. The owners have a monopoly on the brand equity of the NFL (as they should), NOT the sport itself. The players and coaches are free to go start their own league at any time if they wished and continue their careers in that fashion, just as any one of us could do if we were locked out of our jobs.

I'm just sick of this poo, never thought the game of football would ever come to this, and neither the Owners or players are deeply affected by this lockout, it's the fans for us, it's the experience to cheer for your favorite team on Sunday.

The Owners and the players have taken this from us.

I agree that the basic problem here is greed, and it is petty.

But the bottom line is not really that the coaches and player are sick of the owner's BS...

There is no "bottom line" to all this, as it is complicated and has a large number of factors:

We are in an economic depression that by all accounts is not turning around as quickly as anyone had hoped, and even shows signs of worsening. The owners OWN a NFL based business, and have long and short term goals that they feel they need to accomplish in regard to cash flow and this unended economic situation. A major expense for their teams is player pay.

Players are operating from a standpoint of "Don't give anything back that you've gotten.", which is something Upshaw preached before his death. They don't want to lose their pay percentage cut of total revenue... period.

The Players are digging in their heals. The Owners are digging in their heals. The fact this has gone to court is REALLY, REALLY bad. The court systems WILL NOT RESOLVE THIS, because if the owners lose in court (and they probably will, as the courts favor employees in this country), they could potentially shut the whole league down and reform under new labor stipulations, or simply fractionalize the NFL into two parts again.

I've been saying this for months... but we could be watching the end of the NFL... at least as we know it.

    • Absolutely … watching from Colorado, man oh man it makes my heart warm knowing how much our Panthers are loved and supported back home these days. This season was a massive step in the right direction after everything since Tepper took over.   But say all you want about Tepper, but let’s be honest , he has turned a corner and has truly embraced the Panthers history and culture more so recently , and we saw it on full display in Charlotte Saturday. I’m truly so damn proud of our Panthers …. Time to buy that DB #95 jersey… love this team and our fans so damn much. Been a fan since Day 1 when I was a kid in Charlotte and to see how far we’ve come and to have faith in where we’re going in the future truly brings a smile to my face.   In a world currently full of despair and pessimism, thank you to the 2025 Carolina Panthers for giving us hope once again. Time to let Dan Morgan cook… KEEP POUNDING 🖤💙🖤💙🖤💙
    • It's been one hell of a ride this season. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed football for an entire season. There are still a lot of things that frustrate me about this team, but they somehow made it work and put together something pretty impressive. I'm still worried about us being stuck in mediocrity, but hell, that's a lot better than where we've been.    Also, hats off to the fans! What an impressive showing last night. That was the most wild it's been since the 2015 NFC Championship. The place was absolutely rocking! The fans showed up! This is one of the things that has been missing for so long. Despite the loss, I had a blast last night.
