TWC hate letter

ATT is fast enough unless you're online gaming (which I play Madden online and it's fine) or need to download a TB of data every hour...

download at a little slower rate and have internet or keep dealing with f**kass TWC?

I had the same problem... It was due to road runner being overloaded... Too many people were sitting on 1 line... So I would lose internet from 6pm to 10pm every single day... They lied to us everytime we called, telling us its internal issue... Then they finally said it was their external line and it would take them at least a month to find the problem. Uverse just came through, will called TWC and told em to go fug them selves. Switched to uverse and had 0 problems sense.

In the last 3 months. Road Runner has been up all day for exactly 14 days! Otherwise Road Runner is down anywhere from 4 hours to 14 hours a day! It's tough to make a living on the internet when you don't have it!

TWC have blamed my wireless router, (I replaced that twice finally going with theirs for $50 and $9.95 a month, still have problems!). TWC has blamed my computer, so I bought a new CPU, I still have problems.

The inside techs say it's a line problem. The line techs say it's a inside problem. And I can barely get wireless service in my bedroom even when it's working! (I get a better signal from a condo 2 blocks away then I do from my living room!)

TWC has blamed everything from Sun Spots to my microwave. (Which I NEVER use! I hate microwaved food!) Right now I have to refresh twice I order to get a page to load! If ATT DSL was just a little faster 6 MPS compared to 12 mps for TWC, I'd switch, even if I had to install a telephone line!

UVerse may not download at 1000-1500kb/sec, but it'll get 600-700.. ironically, I could barely get that with RR.

I can't imagine how UVerse will not be fast enough.. I use it for downloading mass amounts of Ish and online game play and I have no issues.

cable initially comes in through satellite as well.. people don't realize you have to deal with the same issues. the major downfall with cable is the signal being spread over everyone in your area. unlike with ATT (cable), where everything has to be within 3000 feet of a signal booster. I can't tell you how many friends with TWC in the downtown area have a stretched screen due to this..

most people don't have issues.. but as with anything, nothing is 100%.. most things that knock your satellite out will also knock out cable (for the same reason)..

I do realize that they both come via Satellite. But for me, directv tends to go out more than cable did. It might have something to do with the location of the dish. Its located on the southwest corner of the house, which sits on a long upward slope. No trees on that side to block the wind or storm and thats usually the direction that storm comes from. Basically, it gets the full effect of the storm everytime we get one.

Don't get me wrong, I am mostly ok with directv. But then, I was mostly ok with TWC, except for them not having the channels my wife wanted.

Btw, just had a problem with my ATT internet service. Odd thing was it turned out to be the power supply on the router. It would work until I tried to connect via wireless, then it would go out. I do networks and firewalls for a living, and I have seen power supplies go out on corporate equipment, but its usually an all or nothing. Never seen one that would work until multiple devices connected. And the ATT folks were useless in fixing the issue. The power supply issue was a pure guess on my part. Fortunately, I had a spare.

yeah, that used to be a big issue.. matter of fact, something about requiring multiple satellites with HD/DVR satellite ensures you have 99% signal reliability.. I didn't get the gist of what one technician was saying though..

luckily my UVerse never goes out, so I haven't had to deal much with customer service. the few times I've had a box go out, they come replace it the next day..

if you look up customer satisfaction ratings no company is high on the list. DTV has 64% satisfied and TWC is like 58%... that speaks volumes on how many people are actually dissatisfied with something.

I have ATT... sorry, can help you out.

plenty of friends have the HD/DVR setup and it works great. I'll try to take a spontaneous day off from work when the weather is bad and force my friend to do the same just for you! ;)

it's obvious you haven't had DTV in the last year or 2...

 I didnt expect you to..

Well no, but I currently own dish and have for a little over a year. HD, 400 channels, I'd hope the latest and greatest.

The hoa limits where the dishes can be put, but I live in a post 1995 neighborhood where the land was flattened before building so there aren't any big trees, no huge mountains and there is a lake nearby yet each and every time we get an afternoon summer storm my signal goes out.

And to think just over a year ago I could watch HD cable at my old residence rain, shine, wind or fuging hail. Never a glitch.

maybe it was the installers. maybe its the placement restrictions. I tend to think your friends are not telling you about the poo. The grass is not greener.

Don't you live in Raleigh? When I lived up there I had Charter and never had an issue with them.

Consumer reports listed Charter as the 16th best company out of 16 companies.. TWC was 13th.. DTV was 4th, ATT 3rd.. this was based on picture/audio/sound quality and signal reliability (for those hating on satellite).. just random info, but Charter isn't around here.. at least not anymore. interesting to hear what people did or did not have problems with and the overall pootiness of the companies they didn't have a problem with..

also, I'm only talking about DTV when talking satellite companies.. DISH don't hold a candle to DTV as a service provider or signal reliability.. Close, it was rated MUCH better than all the cable companies (7th overall, IIRC)

so yeah, you have a little bit pootier service than DTV.. although better than TWC, Charter, or Comcast.. they don't have as many satellites as DTV.

and I'm not basing my experience of DTV off of my friend's opinions.. I'm basing it off of watching TV over there while there is rain and wind.. plenty of people here over many of these discussions will say the same, and some already have in this thread. however, it appears we are comparing apples and oranges anyhow.

I honestly have nothing bad to say about TWC.

Well, beyond the fact that the software on their DVR is poo I don't.

Moved to DTV when I moved homes a couple months back but that was more about some of the extras like whole home DRV and remote DVR programming. I still use TWC for broadband though.

I am in the process of doing the same thing. I never had an issue with TWC (aka Brighthouse) but lately their service has gone to poo. HD channnels are unavailable, some channels get pixellated and the sound will go in and out a bunch (like my weenus does).

I am still waiting for my area to get Uverse so for now I am going to DTV but keepinjg the TWC High Speed. I am thinking of raping them for basic cable for the kiddies rooms as a sort of payback.

I'll assume that means you have nothing better to add... ;)

and I was hoping I was able to share this next..

to those who have no issues with TWC.. I'd like to point out what you're actually paying for.

let's assume signal quality is the same for both.. (no constant reboots from TWC and no weather issues with satellite)

you're getting 1/4 the HD channels that ATT/DTV offer.

You already only get around 40 HD channels (vs over 200 w/ DTV), and half of them only come in at 720p.

you pay a monthly DVR box rental fee every month. (as opposed to a 1 time fee that equals to 12 months.. so having your TWC for 2, 3, 4, 5+ years. well, do the math)

you get 1/2 to 1/3 of the DVR space.

your cable signal is severely diluted. the moment you switch to ATT or DTV, you will notice a much better picture quality. Especially with satellite, where you have one signal coming straight to your house.

so in other words, you're paying for a Lexus only to take home a Toyota..

I had this conversation on FB when I posted this link.. some girl goes, "alright, but how am I going to get my internet?"

I had sinking feeling when I realized the general population is absolutely defenseless to great marketing strategies.. like taking candy from babies. (because even a child has a solution to such an overwhelming problem)
