does Terrelle Pryor as a back-up for Cam Newton make sense?

If you think Newton and Pryor are similar in their ability to throw the football, you clearly didn't watch them both play. Pryor is a good athlete if you want another project that you have to teach a new position to.

they are similar in appearance, but other than that they are different. Newton has thrown better passes in college than Pryor and Pryor's faster than Newton. Pryor will likely find a team, like Buffalo or Oakland, i hope Washington or Miami.

how is pryor anything like edwards???

WELL, if Carolina drafts him, then he's like Armanti Edwards in the sense that he's a former QB being switched to WR which isnt an easy task, now if he's drafted by a team who uses him at quarerback like Buffalo or Miami, then he could be a Vince Young like player with less off the field maturity (he wont do the things Young did) and with far less money and likely more development.

Interesting discussion potential but unfortunately there aren't enough people on your level to have anything remotely close to an intelligent discussion about it.

Yes, no one has the capability to draw the same conclusion when looking at the version 1 of a QB with no tattoos and the exact same QB except version 2 has tattoos.

Oh look, tall, athletic, relatively fast, inaccurate, running QBs with troubled pasts.

We should make one our starter and one our backup!

Brilliant!

By the way, all he did was quote a fuging blog so before you say people can't get on his level, he needs to be able to have original thoughts, God this place is a shitter

I really don't see nothing wrong it, look who's backing-up Roethlisberger. Leftwich who has the same skill set as Big Ben.

I'd say Ben is pretty different than Roethlisberger, but Ben's main backups this season were Charlie Batch and Dennis Dixon. It was about as dissimilar as 3 quarterbacks get, and they were successful with all of them.

You don't need similar quarterbacks, you need good quarterbacks.

If you're going to have one project QB, why not have 3?

first off Leftwich and Roethlisberger are WAY different. Same skill set, nope. Ben can at least move in the pocket, Leftwich isnt mobile at all and is more like Bledsoe with his movement. As for nothing wrong with it, here's what's wrong with it. Waste of money (even if it's small) and a draft pick (even if it's small) you have Newton, Clausen and then Pryor which means and then no vet. What do you do??? avoid veteren quarterbacks???? most teams do NOT have 4 quarterbacks on their roster and have one on the practice squad. Pryor should be drafted by a team who WILL use him. Either Washington, Buffalo, Miami, Oakland or another team who needs a developmental QB. the Panthers dont need that with Newton, Clausen and Pike on the roster.

Pike is most likely to be cut.

"Do not compare (Pryor) to Cam Newton," one GM warned, describing the No. 1 overall pick as a "better, stronger, more natural thrower" than Pryor. "Newton can drive the ball." Though the two quarterbacks have comparable size, Newton is considered a far more skilled passer. Pryor is a raw athlete and the definition of a developmental project. He won't be ready to play in 2011
