The Answer

Now, I may be wrong about this, but it was my understanding that because of moves we've already made, and the cap raising up to $127 Million, that we weren't in as bad of cap space as people initially thought.

I keep seeing that we are turning to some vets to restructure to get a few million here and a few million there, so my question is why?

I respect the opinions of a lot of people on these forums and was wondering about everyones' thought's on what Hurney & Co. are doing. I mean, the day we move Pep we will be in as good a salary cap situation as anyone else in the league, but we keep making moves. I guess I'm just hinting that I think Pep stays this year for sure, or these $1 M restructuring moves here and there wouldn't be necessary. I don't know what the rookie signings for the 50-something overall pick is, but I know it's not that much.

Your thoughts?

I didn't see this thread while writing mine, so I'll post here. I wrote the exact same thing. Seems to me like they are making room in order to keep Pep and his $17 M price tag...

What kind of a deal do you guys think a mid-tier CB like Leigh Bodden will get?

The Panthers are clearly looking to sign someone, with the mass amount of restructures and cuts this quickly, they are going for a big signing IMO, so...

Who are they planning on picking up?

I totally agree. They are clearing space to somebody. Trade for Cassel? Sign TJ Whosyourmama?

I ts not to be flexable they are already flexable. Having two DT restructure points towards signing a big time DT.

I disagree. I don't think 2 DT's would want to restucture to get a big name DT to come in a take their job. I want to see us pick up a CB, or even an Antonio Smith or Bertrand Berry for depth.

Maybe a 3 team trade that sends Lucas somewhere else and gets us Lito Sheppard? Not sure...

Can't wait for tomorrow and this weekend!

we have to clear space to get under b/c of Pep I thought?

we will sign average to below average defensive guys and keep on as usual. imo.

The adjustments made with Gamble and Lewis and the release of Bridges, Goings, and Hackett (plus the cap raise by $4M) did that. Now we are making room for someone else...

    • I just don't think some guys have it. Darnold has the panic gene. I don't think there's any fixing it. He looks really good as long as the play develops as drawn up or if he gets pressured immediately and has to go to his check down right away. It's when he has decent protection and his first read isn't open and he's standing back there in the pocket with that panic slowly building. That's when he does disastrous poo.
    • based on the QBs drafted #1 comparison thread, he’s right where he should be. if your expectations were to have a rookie lead us to the playoffs without an OL and WR corps, maybe your expectations were a bit off.
    • at some point, though, you just have to suck it up and accept it and deal with the bad deal you got.  you go through funks where you keep making mistakes and hope that you get it figured out sometime soon, but in the learning process you realize you could have done some things better but you're stuck with decisions you make. you have two choices...whine about it or just brush it off and hope can make the situation you put yourself work. i know a lot of people in here have probably never experienced or dealt with failure much in their lives, but i have and i learned to just suck it up and try to make the best of the situation you've got yourself in because you realize that you're stuck with it for a while. doesn't do any good to keep harping over what you wish you had done better. you already know that. now it's just about moving forward from here and making the best of it and hoping you can make something of it. it's the easiest thing in the world to look at where Bryce falls short...and yes, that was intentional. everyone knows that and all that is done is beating that horse laying on the ground. what takes some work is trying to see how it can work and if they have done and are doing things to help the situation get better.
