Floyd would be a better pick up than Rice.

Rice has had one.5 good years how much of that was b/c of Farve.

Honestly with all the young WR talent we have do we need another WR if Smith stays ?

Smith, Gettis, Lafell, AE, Hawaii dude, and a Free Agent ?

Coefield would be my choice easily.

Comes from a great D-Line already.

Membane keeps getting thrown around, but I haven't seen him do anything special.

Best FA out there is Ngata, I would rather have him over anyone, even Aso.

Manning isn't a FA (well he is, but yeah)

I like the size Rice brings to the table. IMO, a big WR opposite of Smitty would give Cam the tools to succeed. Holmes, although a very good WR, is just too short to place opposite Smitty.

That said, Rice has had one productive season. The same can be said, to a lesser degree, of Gettis and LaFell. So I guess I am going more with the potential Rice brings, versus any actual sustained production.

Damm, I almost talked myself out of Rice, but I stand by my original assertion. I would take Rice. Even if Smitty leaves, which I hope does not happen, Rice still gives Cam a big target.

Just my thoughts. And GOOOO Panthers!!!!!!!!!!!1

we pick up rice (or some top WR) regardless of what smith does. if we lose smith (which actually looks like it won't be happening now) then we pick up 2 of the top WRs in FA.

Yea, I think the whole transaction with Smith was overblown. Looks like he stays, but we find a receiver of the future in either Rice or possibly Floyd. I just hate waiting for the frigging lockout to end.

If rice went to the USC (california) you guys wouldn't give two fugs about him.

If Randy Moss in his prime went to Southern Cal i wouldn't give two fugs about him either? Rice is a legit posession receiver that has no character issues and great leaping ability , forget the school.

The fact rice went to the other USC is my point.

He is fluff at this point. IMO.

Not to mention coming off an injury.

    • That's likely going to tell the story. He'll have two weeks to prepare, so no excuses.
    • You don't rotate offensive linemen dude shown me one time thats happened for us that wasnt because of a player leaving due to injury or a jumbo package ill wait.
    • I didn't say I thought throwing it was a bad decision, I said I thought not running those 3-5 yard routes to pick up the 1st down wasn't a great call.  Yes the play worked out, but I didn't love the play call, it's like when a bad shooter is taking a 3 and you're yelling "no no no" as they're going up and then they make it so it worked out. That's still gambling on them to make the play and I take no issue with that. But I just went and watched the play again, we had T-Mac and XL running downfield crossing routes, Coker went in motion behind the LOS and then moved up a yard or two after the snap but not even past the LOS, Sanders chipped the DE and then ran a drag route right long the LOS. The play worked out, but I don't really like that particular play call and route tree with the game on the line on a 4th and 2.  If you want to send one route downfield as an option that's fine, but there were only 2 realistic target options with that route tree and they were both 15-20 yards downfield. This is just before Bryce is going to throw it.   You have 2 players off screen downfield, one player who ran a route that never had a chance to get open and didn't even get to the 1st down line, another player just at the line to gain but late in the route because of a chip (and the worst pass catcher of the 4). Do you really think that was a "good play call" in that situation?
