Bucs QB Freeman See Some of Himself in Cam Netwon - Charlotte Observer

Everyone acts like they know him personally and they must defend his honor or something.

He's more protected than any athlete I've seen talked about.

Not much bias either way. My simple bias comment will have multiple people defending Cam for what Im not sure.

ZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Life during the lockout:

"Cam is awesome! I love his potential, he's gonna be the face of the franchise and the next big superstar!"

"You're wrong. Cam played in a crappy offense. You're a Cam hugger. Cam won't be that great in the NFL, well, at least in my opinion. Why do you keep taking up for him?"

"Why do you keep insulting him?"

"Why are we doing this again?"

*This argument will continue to permeate this board until the lockout ends and we're finally able to see some mini-camps/OTAs/training camp and get feedback from those that matter.*

Continue this pointlessness.

Newton has disproved everyone so far, even you TRD one of his biggest critics on this board. He's gotten involved with the team and learning the playbook and also training. Everyone thought he would be this 'thug' or Jamarcus part two. And he isn't, he's been acting like the leader of this team.

Haha he's absolutely not proved me wrong yet.

How can I make it more clear to you that I don't care what he does off the field?

His issues on the field are greater than any issue he had off of it, and he can't "disprove" me until he plays football games.

Is that too much to ask? Just waiting until he actually puts on the uniform?

clinging to all you got left I see. Everyone who reads this board knows you have had negative things to say about every aspect of Newton. From he won't even play for 2 or 3 years, won't know the playbook, might be too stupid to read defenses because his wonderlic was lower than some other quarterbacks, poor character and questionable work ethic and the list goes on.

But keep at it. You have been wrong at every turn and will be again once he shows it on the field. You just keep posting until it becomes plain to everyone that you don't have a clue.

Don't worry though there will plenty of folks there to remind you. :biggrin5:

Did you forget that Josh Freeman tossed 25 TDs and only 5 ints in his sophomore season?

Being compared to him is a huge compliment, the man is a (underrated) beast.

I am also glad Brett Favre wasn't mentioned.

Need more than one great season to call a guy a beast at QB........remember that whole Derek Anderson fiasco?

Yes, he has done and said the right things this offseason....and he impresses me with that.

However, everyone is still speculating whether it will mean anything on the field. Kid seems to have a great attitude, work ethic, and athleticism. But, none of that guarantees any type of success on the field.

Let's wait until he actually plays to say he has proven any skeptics wrong.

As with any player, you're right, we have to see what he does on the field. But in my experience, and past observations, the likelihood of him being successful is high due to the things he is doing now.

When you look at a guy like Jamarcus, a guy that a lot of people tried to compare him to, if he went out on the field and failed... He was okay with that. He had a nice Jamarcus piece on his chain and a fancy bracelet to wear that costs more than most people's cars. And that was all he wanted.

When you see a guy preparing like Cam is, it tells me that this guy won't accept failure. It tells me if he has a bad game, it's going to eat at him until he gets it right. As long as he keeps up what he is doing, I have all the confidence in the world that he's gonna be great.
