I liked my first wife's family. I wish she was as nice as they were. :)

My second wife's family is even better. Nicest group of people I have ever met. But some of the customs are hard to adapt to. Its an Asian family and they are use to the eldest ruling the family. My brother inlaw is the eldest, and when we are around them, he gives out orders and expects to be obeyed. That does cause problems sometimes. But he is still very decent fellow.

In, I'll say, 34 years of dating, my mom only found 1 girl I dated that she liked. (She never even liked my choice in marriage.)

The one she adored, I couldn't marry! (A little problem that she was already married!)

Ive been married a little over 5 years, my in-laws come up at least thrice a year. There is not 1 time that I recall not finding something broken after they leave. Little stupid poo too- the rinse gun at my kitchen sink, curtain rod in my son's room, fence plank... I cant tell them to stay somewhere else, wifey wouldnt have that, so I just fix things...

I like them well enough, but Id have to say yes to 2 of the 4 of the OP's questions... Anybody's in-law ever made a pass at you? Yea, thats not a comfortable feeling...:leaving:

mine are alright. the father is cool. no complaints there. the mother annoys me with the way she talks to my dogs and child. all high pitched trying to be cute and funny. it really gets on my nerves. the whole clan cooks to excess. like the last time they were down they had me grill 10 lbs of hamburger for 6 people. they also made enough roast stew for a soup kitchen, and bought more produce than we could all eat in the time they were here. they wouldn't take any home either because they have a 5 hour trip and no cooler. they don't listen when my wife or I tell them to get less.

My story is i have always been lucky when it comes to in-laws.

My 1st in-laws loved me. I got their daughter to leave foreign service and settle down back in the US.

My 2nd in-laws liked me because I gave them many grandkids and we only visited them twice a year.

My current in-laws like me but I am somewhat of an enigma to them. I married the youngest daughter of 3 who is 18 years my junior, I have 5 sons but none are a "Junior", I didn't grow up with money but I am always happy, all of my nephews love me but hate their other uncles.

We have great times together none the less and I rresally dig them...

Are they always annoying as hell?

Do they always stick around way too much?

Do they always make your kids feel like they have an excuse to act like a total fughead?

Do you always feel like you are being critqued when they are in the same room as you?

I do have to say this one is true for my inlaws too. They would let the grandkids get away with murder. But that is was grandparents are supposed to do(according to them anyway).
