I had a horrible vivid dream last night

As a self certified dream expert I can tell you my professional opinion is that you need to give all your good looking friends my contact information and a significant dose of an aphrodisiac of your choice. That is 100% what your dream was trying to tell you.

Also just so we are clear if you have to question whether I am going to think they are good looking or not then they aren't.

Also, to address the question at the end of the OP (and to approach your one-eyed snake topic seriously): I have unbelieveably vivid and amazing dreams every night. From Russian Nazi Vampires that have taken over ROTC that I had to kill using the fake rifles used for rifle spinning to defending my terraformer trailer park on Mars with a stainless steel .45 with no maker and a wand I took from Harry Potter after he got killed by the Aliens (Alien the movie Aliens) to putting on my jeans when they had a rattlesnake in them, which of course bit me and the only antivenin that we had was the mescaline (wtf?) that my mom (quintuple wtf?) had to inject me with.

These sorts of dreams happen to me every night and more often than not I can remember a fair amount of detail. I've practiced having vivid dream and remembering them though.

check out sleep paralysis. its worse than sleep walking but once you realize what is happening its kinda fun. Imagine though as a kid not having any idea what SP was and waking up without being able to move and seeing your dreams while "awake".

Yeah... I don't think those two issues are related.

The worst nightmare I ever had was driving with my family and going over a bridge and suddenly driving off the end of it and falling hearing them all screaming knowing I had just killed them... I woke up freaking out.

Imagine being able one day to record dreams on film somehow like through tech and wires and all that jazz. Seeing every bit of detail. Dreams are too damn transitional though.
