Drug help

So surgery was been a week ago and though I'm blessed at home I'm still in a lot of pain. I generally steer clear narcotics, but now I don't have anything strong enough.

I have Oxycodone, loritab and flexoril, the muscle relaxer. None of these are helping my pain or knocking me on my ass.

Any suggestions on what I should ask the Dr for.

When I had my shoulder surgery last December the doc gave me quite a few things, including Oxycontin that did literally nothing for me. Maybe it was just the dosage, but none of the pain meds they gave me helped at all.

Fortunately my main issue was sleeping, as the pain wasn't all that bad in general. Talk to your doc and tell him what you've got isn't working.

I've seen pain pills ruin too many peoples lives, personally so anytime I've been prescribed them I usually just deal with the pain. I'm severely anti narcotic pills.

I'm sorry you're in so much pain. I guess if it were me I'd ask my doctor. I don't know much about pain meds but how about Demerol? I've heard it really helps people.

mmm...I love me some demerol...but have limited experience with most of the other strong stuff. Unfortunately, I think you are going to have to deal with the narcotics for a while to manage the pain and then hopefully ween yourself as soon as possible from them. Living in pain sucks ass.

Depending on how long you are on the Oxy you are going to have to do a gradual reduction. Oxy withdrawal is the worst of all Opiate withdrawals. Puking and pooing yourself uncontrollably.

I'm anti narcotic too, usually sticking to ibuorophen, but I can't use any antiinflammatories for about 90 days.

Narcotic are what seem to be my only choice. I can't sit still, can't sleep and neither the heating pad or the ice pack help much.

either more hydrocodone or oxycodone(percocet). If that fails just mix either with a few beers to get an extra kick.

There are non-narcotic options. Ask your doctor if that's what you want. It's what they use for addicts.
