what would you rather do:

-Trade Pep to the Broncos for Jay Culter, straight up

-Trade Pep and Lucas the the Broncos for Cutler and 3rd or 4th round Draft pick

-Trade Pep and Lucas to the Pats for 1st and 2nd round Draft picks

-Trade Pep to the Browns for Derek Anderson and 2nd round Draft pick

-Keep Pep and trade Lucas for best offer and address rest in the draft

-Keep Pep and Lucas

EDIT: Please feel free to add more hypotheticals

forced to choose (in this order)....

-Trade Pep and Lucas to the Pats for 1st and 2nd round Draft picks (and use the freed up cap space to beef up the Dline)

-Keep Pep and Lucas

if we don't/can't trade them off for a chance at an improved defense then i don't want to do it.

anything else would end up leaving us with too many holes on defense and we can't afford that. next years schedule we need to have the toughest defense possible.

IMO, I don't believe there are any moves possible that will allow this team win a Championship in 2009. I don't think that with the Peppers situation you can look at it from a perspective of improving the team this season alone and so by isolating only the trades that would focus on improving or maintaining the defense is short-sighted.

Getting a QB like Jay Cutler could in fact allow the team to get much better defensively in the future if that meant the team did not have to waste multiple draft picks and FA signings trying to find Delhomme's replacement. Not to mention they would be getting a proven pro-bowl QB in his mid 20's.

Cutler's Contract

Cutler is only getting 1.035 million in 09..

^^^do you guys understand that Cutler is still under his rookie contract (which is peanuts compared to Delhomme).. if we were able to get Cutler, who is not happy with the Broncos new coaching staff and apparently asked for a Trade when Shannahan was let go, we would have a ton of cap room to get say-- DT Dewayne Robertson.. get another nickel CB.. get a decent DE..

i think even though Marty's hands are handcuffed until Pep and Lucas are dealt with, he could deal with it all in one foul swoop and set this team up to win for years..

screw New England and their draft picks, why make the fat - fatter??

with Pep and Brady returning, they might be unstoppable.. we need to be able to compete with the best of them, and what do we see rising up in the NFC South?? we need a solid QB to compete with the rising Matt Ryan, and Brady, with Peyton and Eli, with Rothlesburger.. we all love Delhomme and what he has done, but we all agree that he has and never will be that elite player.. Cutler can win us a Superbowl..

Do you really think he'd be willing to sign a similar contract at this point?...

it not like hes being released and looking for a new deal.. he would be traded under his current deal.. he might look for new deal next year.. if he was happy to play under that deal in Denver, he shud be exstatic to play for it here with Steve Smith and Double Trouble..

    • Last year was not a high level. He needs to improve a lot more than 1 game agaisnt the Falcons that looked like a preseason scrimmage game. He still looks very limited physically from an NFL standpoint. He hit backup levels at times and needs to show way more consistently.
    • We’ve seen plenty of late round WRs come and go so I don’t have much stock in Horn. He’s definitely a wait and see/maybe he surprises. Looks fun, but then you consider the history with Gettis, T Godwin, Pilares, etc. I’m gonna hold my breathe haha
    • So can we all at least agree that he's physically able to play the position at a high level? There were a lot of weird takes on here before like: 1. he's too short to see the field. all of his passes will be batted down. he'll have to do that hop pass just to get the ball over defenders. he just won't ever be effective passing in the middle of the field. and will never be able to take snaps from under center. 2. he's too small; he'll get injured the first time he's hit; he'll go down whenever he's touched by a defender 3. he's too slow to outrun defensive linemen. he just won't be able to escape the rush or make defenders miss.  4. his arm is just too weak to throw the deep out in tight coverage. or to complete a deep pass Did I miss anything? And he showed he was able to do all of those things his rookie season. Just not consistently. Obviously the problem was always  mental. Confidence and trust in his team mates.
