Are we good at WR

Our receiver situation has been an issue for about as long as our quarterback situation.

Weird, huh?

I see what you're getting at and disagree.

I suppose it depends on whether you think Jake was incapable of throwing to anyone but Smith back when Smith was superhuman. I think post Super Bowl Jake was still pretty good and probably could have thrown to multiple targets for a few more years, had there been any.

No way they sign Derrick Mason. This is the same guy who contemplated retirement before the start of last season. Oh, and did I mention he's 37. I would much rather see them give the young guys a chance.

I like Mason, but I'm with you, he's an aging journeyman type. That said, I really want to see another experienced WR with top talent opposite Smith.

I wouldn't mind Braylon Edwards, or for that matter, Moss (yeah, I know, we're not the NE Patriots).

We are good at receiver. We have two very good tight ends. Steve smith, andseveral young guys that will continue to develop.

Oi. I'm so fuging sick of this formula. Nice to have the TEs, but damn I'm tired of Smith and young, "developing" WRs.

How about adding a very good, experienced WR who's not well past his prime to catch a ball or two and can help Smith and our second rate young guys along?

Next year, we will sign Alshon Jeffery. Besides, Gettis is a star right now in my opinion, a taller version of Marvin Harrison.:D Some of you just need the patience to see these guys in action. Besides, what receiver out there is head and shoulders above who we already got on this roster?

Good luck on that. We'd need a top 5 pick to get Jeffery.

inb4 someone says "Hurr joo ehspeck us to be in the top 27?!?!?"

This should answer the question.
It actually does help a relative Panthers outsider like me.

It was an eye opener those WRs look good in the highlight vids but then again it is a highlight vid.

If those guys can be reliable and consistent then maybe there is no need.

But, having a vet WR oppposite Smtih that knows the system can't hurt.

Btw-Roy Williams is off the market another Coryell team picked him up(actually his old coach).

We are bad to mediocre at most areas right now.

We could use a big name at WR but there are too many other spots where we will use our FA money.

Never know.,

Actually, we were last year. A year for a rookie WR makes a big difference. We are set to run, and I am guessing that the complexity of the offense will be limited for now.

Right on, our coin goes to CB and DT before WR, IMO.

    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
