Mark Brunell Anyone??

I think this would be an excellent move. Brunell's been in the league long enough to be able to pick up a different offense very quickly. Vet QB's have said numerous times, it's the verbage is what is different. Routes are still routes. The plays don't change, just the names and when you call them.

If you want a vet guy to mentor Cam or give you a few games if you need to you could not ask for a better guy.

The thing is, the QB you bring in has to be interested in helping Cam along and I'm not sure either Volek or Anderson would be interested in that, I know Brunell would based on his relationship with Sanchez...

Well both will at least realize they have a chance, right now Volek is buried behind Rivers and Anderson does not even have a job.

Great idea! He is about to have his 41st birthday, but he seems to have aged well.

I wouldn't do this if we were expecting him to start the season, only as a clipboard holder and mentor. We don't want to see him get broken in half in the season's first game.

We cut a 41 year old kicker, why the hell would we sign a 41 year old quarterback haha?

I agree with others, I don't think the system is important... vet QB will be there to show Cam how to study film, etc, that translates accross any system.

The advantage to Brunell in particular is that he was a pretty effective mobile QB back in the day, so it stands to reason that he could give Cam tips on how to use his mobility while remaining an effective passer.

That is what our QB coach is for, if you want someone to teach him and mentor him, you might as well sign Delhomme.

    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
    • Certainly not going to miss his constant whiffs on sacks and tackles.
