Jets aren't going to re-sign Braylon Edwards

Sorry if this has been posted already.... I haven't been on here much lately

I think we should go after him... even with the weapons we've signed, it would be great to have a reliable #2 receiver.

Smith and Him on the wings, 2 TE set with shockey and olsen, D-Will or Stewart in the backfield....

even our QB's should be able to find an open guy with that

I think Cam should do alright with what we have.

I want the guy...not just because I have him and Smith on my Madden team either.

I don't see us picking up a WR. I think they are going to try and develop the guys we have. Plus, we really need to spend some money on a CB or two...

I'm still not sure why people want a WR. We have a plethora of young guys who need to get on the field. Gettis, Lafell, Edwards, the WR from Hawaii (I can't think of his damn name), plus with our new TEs it should spread the field for our young guys even more helping them develop.

B.Edwards is a great WR without hands.

I think he has gotten over the drops. That was a knock on him in Cleveland but he seems to be doing better on that part.

If you watched him last yer with the Jets he was significantly better about not dropping balls. I really don't think he dropped that many. (EDIT: just checked, dropped passes - Holmes: 5 Edwards: 2)

But I'd rather go after a CB, DT before going after a WR.

i would love it, but i would rather wait until we have at least a starting caliber CB brought in.

i really can't imagine edwards (or any top end WR) being happy to come here considering how sparse the targets are going to be. that ball is going to be spread around an awful lot and anyone coming here would be aware of that. the first couple years of having a young QB like cam is going to make those targets even more rare.

meh...he's actually gotten a lot better over the past few years as far as drops are concerned. the dude earned that rep a few years back honestly, but he's gone a long way in turning it around.

We have more pressing needs than a proven num 2 receiver. Not to mention, IMO, the Greg Olsen acquisition was pretty much the same thing as getting a #2 reciever

that's very true. I definitely think he'll have the second most receptions after Smith this year. That was a great trade for us.. definitely worth a 3rd round pick

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
