DeAngelo: "it is what it is" is no more...

Seriously? You don't think that is news?

In that statement DeAngelo speaks to the psychology of the team. Fox always siad that, obvious play on Fox's words & DeAngelo sarcastically references it. It makes me love D-Will that much more & excited that the players are ready to move on from a losers mentality.

HEy, any 'news' is good news, since it means the NFL is active! :drool5:

...actually I was serious, this is the biggest scoop Person has ever had I think. :P

"it is what is it" translates into "meh.....oh well...."

it shows an apathetic attitude towards getting better. i had been tired of fox's shtick for years. he might have been a friendly guy, but he was a mediocre coach and that mediocrity spread to the team and the older players who knew that no mater how poorly they did, their spot was safe. they didn't have to worry about learning something new because fox didn't want anything to change. they didn't have to deal with any problems because, well, "it is what it is". what they did worked once, so there's no reason to think it couldn't work forever and ever amen.

the sad thing was how badly it spread among the fan base who held on to dear life to that one shining moment we had a couple years shy of a decade ago where we almost made it...wanting to keep the guys around that helped make that happen because they were the best ______ in panthers history. too busy looking back at past "glory" and not able to look forward to the future.

fortunately, we got rid of that mediocre coach and got ourselves a coach that settles for nothing less than being the best. no more excuses. no more apathy. no more "a punt is a good play" crap. no more "it is what it is."

we're boldly going forward and it's about time. regardless of the record at the end of the season, i'm proud of what this team is doing and i'm anxious to see where this bold new road they are on leads.

You should post that on the Broncos MB, as soon as he says it.

meh, let them have their fairy wand waving coach and his trite sayings.

they'll find out who he is soon enough.

i do think that elway is going to have a lot of say in what that team does and fox may end up being little more than a puppet with a HOF QBs hand up his butt.

if im feeling pissy one day i might post it over there, though. it's been a while since a forum has hit me with teh ban hammer

frickin "goal is to win 3 games out of 4"

dude always set the bar low so it's easy to reach. only thing is you won't ever become great doing that.

gahhhh..so glad he's someone else's problem.

i'm going to try to quit opening threads where he's talked about. time to move on.

    • I think you have to factor in that we're still not an attractive proposition for Head Coaches. You're not getting the cream of the crop if you fire Canales a year after winning the NFC South, especially considering the situation he walked into.
    • Yeah, I was about to say I hope he's doing okay health-wise because he's not looking good in that pic.
    • Honestly, I dont  think he should be on the hot seat yet. A bad start to next year, then yes. Despite our mistakes on play calling this past season, we played better than anticipated overall. Bryce showed improvement and maturity (although still not nowhere close to our expectations). Better record and 2-15 to 5-12 to 8-9. Despite what we feel the stats dont lie we are improving by 3 wins a year. Could 11-6 be our expectation. That's a high bar but at the rate we are going, thats what its looking like. We all want to see a 5-12 to a 13-4 record but we are methodically moving up. Success doesnt happen overnight (well in most cases).  IMO we are struggling mostly on the defensive end. LB and edge are our biggest weakness. I see Bryce making improvements (even though I was a Bryce hater) next year. Biggest concern is LT on offense. How to fix this? We need a big name edge or to trade up and get a big name edge or LB and pick up one in FA and draft one. Also if in the 3rd we can pick up a TE. Dont know if Sanders is the answer or Tremble (even though I love Trembles blocking and power after the catch). If these two can get their footwork together they would be great. Maybe all they need is a better TE coach. And if Brooks can stay healthy and be the back we thought he could be, man that would be great
