Carolina intersted in Carlos Rogers

As a Redskins/Panthers fan, let me give you some info on Carlos Rogers. GREAT cover corner, he will battle in coverage and if he caught more passes would be a shutdown corner. Washington is letting him go for that reason, with the right coaching COULD be that shutdown corner, In other words Carolina, GET HIM!!! This would be the best defense for him to be in and with the coaching we have here, he could become a much better player. Carlos Rogers would be a great signing.

Main job of a DB is to not let passes get caught which sounds like what he's great at. Go get him Hurney!

he got into a little twitter fiasco with Hall. Carlos was talking about how he was overlooked as a good corner and under appreciated but gave up less plays. Then hall responded how Rogers was labeled a no.2 corner because he played like one but he got juked out of his reeboks by jake delhomme so what the fug does he know

Great to finally see this. He is the guy I have been banking on since the beginning. Even better, according to that Redskins board, he apparently cannot stand Deangelo Hall, which makes him a perfect fit here.

Him and Smitty already have something in common.

Does someone have a objective scouting report on him with positives and negatives?

Will he be more of a stop gap, or can he and gamble be of a superbowl starting tandum in future years?

the positives for me are, he CAN cover, he is a guy who was a good starting CB for Washington, on gamedays for Washington, a guy on hailredskins.com rates their plays and usually Rogers gets solid play, but should've caught an interception, he's a good player who could be GREAT with coaching and that's something Carolina has, good defensive coaching.

the negatives are obvious, catching. he's drops way too many and would be VERY dangerous if he catches them, but he's worth the money, get him.

Anybody???

Or is this just a player we are going nuts about because his position says "CB" and it's a name we recognize?

His best year was in 2008. He ranked as the 8th highest CB. Would have been higher if he could hold on to an interception. Since then he's had the attitude of being better than he is.

Someone on the Redskins board several years ago did a comparison of the games Rogers played and the game he was out hurt. Teams averaged 50 to 60 yards more in passing yardage in the games that Rogers missed.

Cool, if his main negatives are dropping INT's that's fine. As long as he covers his man the INT's are just a plus.

it's simple. Rogers is a better cover corner, but Hall is a better interceptor and play maker, BUT Hall also gets burnt more than Rogers. Chris Collinsworth said it best. Rogers would be a year in, year out pro bowl player if he caught half of his dropped interceptions, but with good coaching, the panthers could fix that which is why i say, take him. the Redskins have moved on and have planned on this for a while.
