Panthers interest: CB Carlos Rogers, the No. 9 pick in the 2005 NFL draft, started 41 games during his six seasons with the Redskins.

The Carolina Panthers are clearly in the market for a cornerback and have expressed interest in signing Washington Redskins cornerback Carlos Rogers, a league source confirmed late Sunday night.

Rogers, the ninth overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft, has started 41 games during his six seasons with the Redskins. Rogers, 30, has 299 career tackles with eight interceptions and four forced fumbles.

The Panthers have a major need at cornerback after losing free agent Richard Marshall to the Arizona Cardinals.

If the Panthers can land the 6-foot, 189-pound Rogers it would represent a significant upgrade for the Panthers.

#Panthers have begun kicking the tires on #Redskins free agent CB Carlos Rogers. There's been little interest in the vet cornerback.
