Surprised we haven't aquired this guy.

Lito Sheppard.

30 years old, had a rough season 2010, but could be had for cheap and would be motivated to prove doubters wrong.

If you connect the dots, it seems to make perfect sense at the moment, played under McDermott in Philly and could help our young guys really learn the system. Also, he is a Drew Rosenhaus client, so I am surprised he isn't knocking on the door, knowing the Panthers need.

My only reasoning for not having brought him in yet would be that if we signed him now his contract would be guaranteed, but if we wait til after week one we can cut him at any time and wouldn't have to pay.

I am not saying I would love to have them, but when I was looking at FA corners this is the one that made sense.

Lito might be a good pick up, but given how his season turned out last year, I don't blame the FO for waiting to make a move until he's more of a risk free candidate. ON another note, who out there can fill me in on our young DT Terrell McClain? I've been seeing good things on him reported from camp, but I'm unfamiliar with the line on him. Was he a beast in college? Come on guys, educate me!

I've heard he was a good draft sleeper. In that he'd probably go around the 3rd round, but could very well turn out to be greater than 3rd round talent. We picked him where he was expected to go. He's a gap shooter, not a pile mover. If he lives up to his potential, he'll be a sack artist (for a DT). If not, he'll be Damione Lewis.

he was above average at s. florida, he is known for having a good motor, quick feet & knows how to disengage from o lineman, the knock on him is that he plays with his pads to high at times

I believe if Lito starts opposite of Gamble then he'll produce well, and the two will be able to show some of our younger guys things which will hopefully help them in the future. If you see Lito's stats then you'll notice that when he is starting he is producing interceptions, tackles, etc.

Just say no. His 2009 season with the Jets was terrible and he basically gets burned waaaaay too much. He would be a warm body out there considering what we've got at CB, but if you want to have a scapegoat for '11, Lito will be the new Richard Marshall....only older.

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
