Trust me; Hurney will never look like a genius with the AE trade. AE could turn into Jerry fuging Rice and Hurney still gave up way too much to draft him.

a 2nd round pick for a legit #2 WR and punt returner? sorry, that seems like a solid move.

not saying that he is legit, yet. but if he becomes one, how could that not seem like a good move?

Some people just wont ever admit they were wrong about something.

I'm not saying he is the man yet, I am still cautiously optimistic that he is going to be a very good, solid player.

I have never wavered on my belief that he was going to work hard until he became a good player, and the special athleticism that he had.

So are you saying that a 2nd would be too much to give up for Jerry Rice? Your hatred for AE and Hurney runs deeeeeep.

I hate the trade for AE. I would have fired Hurney for it. I don't hate AE, though I do get tired off all of his nut huggers talking about him like he is some great physical specimen.

And I never said that I wouldn't trade a 2nd round pick for Jerry Rice. That wasn't the trade that Hurney made. Hurney traded a 2nd round pick in a year in which we all knew the Panthers would at best be 8-8 and therefore picking in the first half of the draft for a player that was going to be drafted in the 4th round. That's a bad trade. MH you are smart enough to figure that out. Some of the other posters, not so much.

the armanti trade will forever be a bad trade because we still could have gotten him in the 4th or 5th round.

could have used that second rounder this past year to get more help on the D-line or secondary.

You dont KNOW that.

And Darin Gannt, who is a self-proclaimed app homer, said there was 0% chance that he would have lasted because there were many other teams interested.

You can't say it is a bad trade no matter what because you can't guarantee he would have been there, and what if he turns into the next Smitty? 2nd rounder too much for Smitty?

You're a Western alumni, aren't you?

Or is it Michigan?

not one person on this board knows if we actually COULD have gotten him in the 4th or 5th. his projection to go then doesn't mean he actually would have. thirty-one other general managers could've picked him before then because they had the same idea as hurney.

easy to second-guess someone, hard to actually be in their shoes. if armanti does turn out to be a bust, then crucify him, but if he's successful let's not sit back and nitpick how we got there.

For everybody saying we could have got AE in the 4th or 5th round, how do you know? Because your Street & Smith Draft Preview magazine told you so? Not saying that Hurney has perfect information about how high he has to move up to get a particular player, but I'm sure his information is just as good as ours, probably better. If AE contributes, it's a good pick.

    • I’ll get killed for this but he always sounded gay to me. Not necessarily not gay, but feminine.  I tried to say it in a more subtle way and still got killed for it last year. fug it I don’t care it’s an honest opinion. I didn’t let that disqualify him and have been very patient and non critical. I just wondered how the big tough guys in the locker room would respond to that.  But whatever, I think he thinks too much from the emotional side. The rah rah positive deal, what must it sound like if he gets mad? Where is the tough hard ass side? The no empathy, get the job done or get gone. I wonder about that. It mean I doubt there is a lot of fear of failure going on.    So anyway to other comments about he sucks and all that, I said I needed a better reason to change my stance on him, which has been give him time. Continuity is super important.  This thing with the running backs is eroding the goodwill.
    • He has a 54 mil buyout so he will be fine but LSU needs o move on.
    • Sure if you just blindly look at stats, you can pinpoint a couple areas that look similar. But come on man that's lazy analysis. Instead of throwing lower percentage throws, Dalton held onto the ball unconscionably long, leading to several of those sacks including that unthinkable one at the end of the first half, inflating his completion percentage. Bryce for all his flaws, does a pretty good job of escaping pressure and scrambling for 5 yards or throwing it away. Dalton's pocket presence was just so incredibly bad today, which led to both of his lost fumbles. If Bryce would just hold onto the ball and get sacked every 3rd play instead of throw it away or try a contested pass, his completion percentage would be 15 points higher than Dalton's today. And Bryce only had more yardage in 3 of 7 games? You mean when we played run heavy schemes in our wins, instead of Dalton being forced to throw all game cause we're getting blown out?  Look anyone is more than justified in arguing Bryce Young doesn't have the tools to lead this team to a super bowl. But he has been head and shoulders better this year than what Dalton showed today. That was just an abysmal perfomance.
