Best pen for autographs on a football?

So as I've stated in the Panthers forum, I'm going to the AZ game on 9/11. I have a ball in a case right now that has John Fox, Jake, Peppers, Buckner, Jenkins, Rucker, and Minters sigs on it from when they played in SF years ago. The sigs were all done in black sharpie and some look just a little faded now on the ball. So my question to you guys is two part I guess, First off, should I buy a new football to get signed instead of bringing the old one, and what kind of pen should I use? I was looking at a Uni medium point silver paint pen, thought that might stand the test of time a little better than the sharpie did.

Jasonluckydog I'm looking at you, I know you got a boat load of autographs.

The silver paint pen would probably be your best bet. Is it a white panel football? If that's the case, a black paint pen would be the best.

Also, the fading from the other football my have to do with the case itself. If it's not a case that protects from UV lighting, that may have caused the signatures to fade...

I got the other one in a regular display case, so maybe that is what's wrong. You can still see them, but I fear that in a few years they'll be gone. And the football is a regular NFL authentic football. I think i'm gonna go the paint pen route, it'll be tough for that silver to fade. Hopefully it doesn't chip off.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
