Over-reaction Saturday

Armanti Edwards - working the WR, wildcat and PR spots I think he could easily be the MVP of the game. This will generate talks of how dumb Fox was and how he is now on the fast track to replace Smitty.

Cam Newton - the man child will not crush the Giants in the palm of his hands like he did to teams every Saturday. Frankly, he probably won't look good at all in his first NFL action.....with a shortened offseason to prep. This of course will start bust threads, draft mistake threads, Clausen is a god threads, trade and bring back Matt Moore threads etc.

I co-sign on both of these. Very probable....

I would also like to nominate a trade Mike Goodson for a first to second round pick thread after he beasts against third teamers...

And those would be valid.

If JC plays well in the preseason (and Cam struggles), JC SHOULD be the starter come Game #1 of the Regular Season.......no matter how many people WANT to see Cam start.

I think the upside with Cam in great. I also don't think he is ready.

My perfect scenario would be for either JC or DA to play well and be the starter. Allow Cam to continue to learn and develop....he eventually WILL take over. It would be nice to allow that to happen at the right time....rather than throwing him out there before he is ready.

yeah, if Cam struggles and Jimmy shows decent improvement on last year.......then he should start the year. That wouldn't be an over-reaction.

The Huddle is quick to nominate players as replacements for our star players, and just as quick to trade or cut them the next week. I will probably stay away from the Huddle for a couple days after the game to avoid the Edwards to the Hall of Fame and Cam is a bust threads. Reality is you can't judge any rookie after his first year in the NFL. Don't tell anyone in the Huddle this. They will be naming future stars and busts after a quarter in a meaningless preseason game. Will be entertaining.

Heck, if the Panthers can score 1 offensive TD and come out of this game without any major injuries, it will be a big success. Other than that, I just want to see all of the young guys play hard and learn a few things that they can build on.

Actually our defense was solid last season. Problem was that they had to stay of the field for 75% of the game.

If a decent offense had emerged last season, you would have seen a very good D.

The year we had Kemo and Jenkins on the D-Line, nobody could gain a yard on us in preseason. People thought we'd be the most dominant defense in the league.

Regular season week one? The Falcons ran all over us.

Never put too much stock into team performance in preseason.

I'm wondering if Clausen doesn't play well if we will call it an over-reaction or trash him. Lol.. glad this thread is here to get out in front of things if it happens to Cam.

I'm gonna go odd & say that Jimmy shows a lot of improvement but Cam is flat out awesome & fans will insist Jimmy be traded for a 3 piece with dirty rice.

Eta: Why did I think of dirty rice during lunch in Wisconsin. Damn I want some dirty rice now...
