Kealoha pilares the quiet secret weapon.

I don't see where all the "Kealoha pilares is steve smith" stuff is coming from. The guy made some nice catches yesterday but is far from a lock to make the team. With armanti locking down a spot,i would say that put pilares behind the 8 ball. Can we see one preseason game before crowning him the next agent 89?

Just a few years ago Steve Smith was the guy people were unsure of. Look where he is now.

Although I am excited for his potential, do not crown him yet. He reminds me of Danny Amendola who turned out to be very productive for St. Louis the last 2 seasons after being placed on a practice squad by the Cowboys and getting scooped up by the Rams.

I really hope our log jam at WR does not force us to put him on the practice squad. We have got to keep 6 WR's.

Having him sit on the practice squad is likely the best scenario for us. It means that the other guys are more game-ready (as they probably should be) and it will give Pilares time to learn.

I mean, we've still got the following players ahead of him:

Smith

LaFell

Gettis

Edwards

Naanee

Clowney

From what i've heard and seen in TC the guy is making plays left and right every time his number is called. No one was really talking about him earlier because he wasnt getting as many reps as he is now.

I think this is a overstatement. I've heard of him making a few grabs when they call his number, but not nearly enuff to even say he's going to make the team.

Please stop the team making predictions. We are a long ways away from cuts and have preseason games for players to prove themselves.

Not to mention that there is not a single person on this board who has a fuging clue what Rivera and staff think about any of the players.

I at least think he's going to make the team, at the very least. Marty doesn't cut draft picks lightly, and he's also one of Rivera's first draft picks. He can play special teams as well. All he has to do is show a little something and he will make it..but heck last year Tony Pike didn't show anything and yet was still on the team..everyone just needs to remember our GM's draft history to know they won't just cut one of their picks.

Who's making a prediction its all about numbers. if we only keep 5 he's not gonna make it. If we go with 6 he still has to hold off clowney. Unless he has a solid showing in the preseason, the kid is gone. But i can almost say for sure he'll have a spot on the practice team.

You are clearly making a prediction that he will be 6th on the depth chart which you don't know. Gettis is getting a MRI as we speak, no telling what will happen until know and then. Its not about numbers at all, its just you speculating.

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
