Cam's accuracy issues overblown

CRA

Not saying was accurate....

Not saying he doesn't need work.....like throwing off his back foot

But all in all, I wouldn't say Claussen looked more accurate worth noting.....when Cam was in with the starting OL I thought he was just as accurate but better with his throws mainly bc of how well he anticipates pressure vs Clausen. Both made some nice throws and both made good throws that could of been better.

considering Cam had 2 weeks to prep for his first preseaon game.....his first drive was VERY impressive.

On the night Cam had many throws that went down as incompletions......and many of those were good balls that he gave our players chances to make a play (like LaFell in the end zone going back to him, a couple shots to Charley and Olsen down the sideline, the 3rd down drop to Armanti).......THAT really stood out for me at least. Kid could of had a much better game on top of what we saw.

Good night overall....Cam could be on pace to start week 1. But it is also nice to know Jimmy has made some nice steps forward and that he looks like he could actually go part of the season if asked without it looking like his year under Fox...

But it is early.....and we still don't know where these guys really will be when the season starts. But signs look good. Go Panthers!

The pocket presence Cam showed was incredible. I didn't feel the fear I normally feel when Jake/Jimmy where about to throw the ball. I felt quite comfortable, put my Newton smile on, and let him go out there and have fun! Hell, even when the kid went 3 and out he had a big grin! He loves playing football! He loves the game! And he is a hard working competitive player that will be a great QB in this league for the next decade! He will continue to get better each and every week! Go get 'em Cam!

Best analysis of Cam I've read so far. My thoughts exactly. We can debate whether to call some of those plays drops but fact is, Smitty probably makes the catch on some of those plays where LaFell or Clowney didn't. Still some stuff to improve on, Friday night will be interesting if Cam runs with the starters.

His accuracy wasn't bad. A few throws were behind the receiver or two low, but that is to be expected. And he made a few bad decisions, but that also is to be expected. Hopefully, both will improve with time and experience.

I was happy to see him stay in the pocket, and not take off. But I wonder if that was his call, or the coaches? Or if a good running situation never presented itself?

Cam played like you'd expect. His footwork and mechanics weren't consistent on every play, he threw off his back foot a few times (he'll learn not to do that), but he also made some good throws and found the open man, he took what the defense was giving him when he should. He didn't try to scramble for yards, he stayed behind the line and tried to make a play with his arm. And, most importantly, I don't think he made one throw where the defender could've intercepted it. Not bad at all.

Also, worth noting.....from the Giant fans on their forum

The Giants forum gameday thread. They were very impressed by Cam. Not so much by Clausen. Didnt read what they had to say about Anderson....

    • Possible, he is physical and a forchecker but not a needle mover, but i wouldnt mind it
    • The problem with these summary stats and rankings is that they flatten out progression and assume an even performance throughout the year. His first 3 or 4 games of the season don't really tell you anything about his current level of capacity but more about where he started and what his floor was last year. Given his last several games were against playoff teams, that gives you an idea of his current ability coming into the season. But it will serve more as a floor than a ceiling given the upgrade in talent on offense. And a better defense should give us more stops which results in shorter fields and more opportunities. And going into his third year there is no reason to suspect he will regress. His success wasn't  based on being superhuman but being smart and taking what was the defense was giving him. Distributing to the other guys not trying to do it on his own. He was great at the end when pressured and consistently moved the ball. That makes him a great game manager which is what we need. Something that is easier to do and relies on everyone else rather than having to be a top physical specimen or do it on his own. No one can predict the future but to say we haven't improved much is crazy given just having the Browns anchoring the defensive line will shut down the run and make sure QBs won't be stepping up in the pocket.  Assuming Evero got the message to can the prevent defense and bend until you break philosophy.
    • If the Canes don't bring back Tyson Jost or Jack Roslovic, is Tanner Jeannot an option? https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2025/06/senators-expected-to-show-interest-in-tanner-jeannot.html
