Bears release Chester Taylor

Matt Forte seemed to do just fine with the same O line. Don't confuse poo pass blocking with being the same on run blocking.

Forte only ran well out of two back sets (which skewed his overall numbers). When forced to deal with strictly the O Line and the TE's he was slightly worse than mediocre. Let's also take into account he is a much better back that Taylor was, even compared to when Chester was in his prime.

As far as Taylor, in 2009 in Minny he averaged 3.6 yards per carry. This last year? 2.4.

Barf.

Cardinals are hurting for a RB.

I would say Taylor is a better option than Tiki Barber or Clinton Portis at this point.

it wouldn't fix the fact that their Oline is not very good either. Warner's quick release just made that unit look better than it really was

23 seconds in. :D

This is a Mike Martz offense, man... "two back sets" are just about the rarest verbiage in that scheme.

    • This guy pre-draft was saying he could take or leave football, and he seems to have been playing with that mentality ever since lol.
    • Agreed, another safety would be nice. Bud Clark, TCU, is one I would like to see us take a flyer on later in the draft, if he stays healthy and we don't take someone earlier. I just really hope we draft a solid C this year. Tired of seeing us cycle through average to below average players in that area.
    • Bryce doesn't like throwing into the middle of the field unless the play broke down or it's set up to give him a passing lane.  So because of this issue, most of the passing offense has to be outside the numbers towards the boundary. So you see him throw a lot of dump offs, swing routes, short side out routes, comebacks or deep balls outside the numbers using the boundary as protection of an interception.    Pretty easy for a NFL defense to see this and scheme against it.  All you have to do is run a shell cover 2 deep dime, LB plays a hook underneath, take the flat away with a blitz/flat zone option for the two inside DB's, outside two DB's play hook zone underneath and carry anything deep.    Pretty much what NO ran to take away Rico while also limiting What Bryce can do as well.
