I worry, and my wife worries, about this kind of thing a lot.

You never know if the woman you hire turns out to be, well, a cannibal for instance.

And I do kind of like her being exposed to the germs now rather than later.

Totally with you, we were there years ago.

But if you put forth the effort, and it IS hard work, you can find good people.

Remember, bad people, really BAD people, are the minority.

Due diligence and you can find a winner, socialize at your pace, and have the best of both worlds.

My son was in a daycare last year and there was one kid who kept biting everyone. This one girl went home with a nasty bruise on her cheek near her eye. her parents flipped out.

My wife told the daycare that if that kid wasn't removed, that we were leaving. They eventually put extra staff in the toddler room to keep him supervised. We left anyway. I picked my son up, looked at the "biter" got down on his level, and told him quietly that I was going to remove each of his teeth with pliers. He just stared blankly at me, but that was satisfying.
