But but he got cut from *insert team name here* he sucks!...

why must you judge him right away? why can't you withhold judgement until you see him on the field?
why not? if i can't see how the team benefits from grabbing a scrub from a team that is weak at the position, i'm not going to pretend i don't and i don't feel it necessary or particularly helpful to keep criticisms or legit concerns quiet.

either way, it doesn't matter how good or bad you feel about a decision because until it's tested in games that matters (or gets cut before that happens) we won't really know how it will work out. doesn't mean we should all blindly agree that it is a great decision.

if you say it's a good call, you are judging him in the same way someone who says it isn't a good call.

I thought that a good way to bolster the argument would be to cite all of the players who had been cut and went on to successful careers with other teams. But I couldn't really think of any off the top of my head. Maybe someone else can think of examples?

I think that would be a long list my friend.

you could find them. i'm sure, but the list of those who sucked with every team they went to would be a whole lot longer.

I'm not talking about veterans who have already had successful careers, but have been waived in salary cap moves. I'm talking about players who have been waived in their first or second year, but caught on with their next team and had long and productive careers. Not saying they don't exist at all, I just don't care to look them up.

Jovan Haye is one that comes to mind. Evan Mathis could be considered. And when you look at guys like that, the OPs argument is even stronger that the chicken littles need more of a "wait and see" approach with these types

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
