Only 3 DTs = 3-4 Defense Sunday?

I love when people draw lines against their own team.

You guys gonna be sorry when I can say I was right I told youuuuuuuuuu. . .I mean, what is that? Only someone who has been called stupid a lot would be looking for gratification this way. It is very empty and likely will do 0 good for your ego. You are still gonna be paranoid and you are still going to have a chip on your shoulder until you can look past all that bullchit and not take yourself so seriously.

We're a Pat Williams and Tony Brown/Tommie Harris signing away from having a solid defense. With that said we'll prob wait until after week 1.

I don't think the Panthers are dumb enough to put their full trust in two rookies. The plan is to make Newton feel comfortable. And if we have to play catch up all game that can stunt his growth.

I think you are right.I would not be surprised if they do not already have a deal done but cannot sign until next week. That is a dumb rule

We will pick up at least 1 more DT before sunday. If not I will seriously wonder wtf Marty is doing. (Besides hitting the pipe)

Not going to happen.

Nevermind the fact that picking one up a day or two before the game WILL NOT help in the Arizona game, picking one up next week means NO guaranteed salary.

you can't randomly turn your team into a 3-4 D in 4 days b/c you are thin at DT. Carolina will probably be thin and get abused up the middle until week 2.

Much like starting Cam early.....rookie DTs will likely suck but throwing them in will help them grow quickly (or quickly expose them as not being able to adjust quick enough and for other options to be found asap).

The Huddle is serious business.

People think changing defensive schemes is just as simple as saying, "you come out and you go in; and you, rather than lining up there, line up here instead."

Waaaaay more to it than that, especially at the pro level and with newly acquired players.

I know. Good thing we have already been implementing a lot of those concepts.

So John Fox always had at least 4 DTs on his roster. Kinda my point.

And a lot of the time when he had 3 actives it was actually bc we already had other DTs on IR. He didn't go into the season with only 3 DTs.

Functionally speaking, there's no difference on gameday between "only three active" and "only three on roster".

I suspect we'll have a fourth, but not until next week.

So he has been implementing some 3-4.

Most base 4-3 defenses have some 3 man fronts. Likewise, base 3-4 schemes have plays they run out of other alignments.

Back in the early days, Capers was known to move Lamar Lathon and Kevin Greene up to the line as down defensive ends from time to time.

the looks they have been implementing has nothing to do with aiding your team into a transition into a 3-4 base 4 day prior to the start of a season.
