Why do some of these experts think Cam can't develop accuracy....

They didn't improve their accuracy, they became comfortable in the NFL....

... being accurate and being comfortable in NFL are two different things. But these two could go on hand - in - hand... because if a person is really accurate since the beginning but not comfortable with the NFL, his accuracy won't show off. But as someone go on with his sports and practice more, he is surely to develop accuracy because it is, in fact, can be developed.... plus, while the accuracy is being harness, if he get acquainted with the NFL, that's the time the player could really show the accuracy that he have...

They didn't improve their accuracy, they became comfortable in the NFL. The accurate quarterbacks were accurate from day one.

I'm not bashing Cam, I want him to succeed. He is a great athlete and has every skill to be our franchise quarterback. What he does not have is the pin point accuracy of people like Brees, Manning, and Brady. Maybe I have a different definition of accuracy than some of the other posters on the board.

Are u for real? Manning had the worst interception record as a rookie...28...I guess interception has nothing to do with being inaccurate, right?

I also guess u might as well add Aaron Rogers to the accuracy list cause he was throwing lazers the other night...Oh wait, that can't be because "pinpoint accurate QBs are born not breed..And we all know how accurate Aaron was when he was a rookie...

Two questions:

Are you a coach?

Is English your second language?

Accuracy and making a bad decision are two different things, obviously.

alot of these experts are guys who praised elway for being so great but he barely completed 55% of his passes over the course of his career. only stat that counts is whether you win or lose period. elway, bradshaw, simms and so on won games & didn't always look good doing it & that's all i really care about to be honest

Cam simply became a fun guy for people to pull against....

He still remains a unique and wildly unknown QB due to his 1 yr of crazy success at Auburn.....easier to hate him than to try to figure out exactly how good he could be.

Ah, nothing to figure out. Just watch and wait. I guess that is the real problem though, nobody has patience anymore.

I am going to be watching how well Cam does his FOOTWORK when he's passing in the pocket AND when he's on the run. He's GOT to learn what the ideal footwork is in every scenario he might be in. That takes some time but if he watches lots of film and CONSISTENTLY has the ideal footwork for each situation IN PRACTICE AND IN GAMES he'll start increasing his completion percentages dramatically.

He needs to watch himself on film with his QB coach to make sure he is doing what he is supposed to do. He's got to be able to get to the point where his footwork and timing with his receivers is so AUTOMATIC that he rarely needs to think about it during games.

The QBs with good accuracy are doing certain things well on a consistent basis. CAM SHOULD WATCH VIDEOS OF THE MOST ACCURATE QBS WHEN HE GETS A CHANCE.

They've developed GOOD QB HABITS that are wired deep into their brains ... like tying your shoes or brushing your teeth. The sports psychologists call it "UNCONSCIOUS COMPETENCE". Hopefully, Cam will get to that level in a hurry. If he does, you're going to see Cam have some awesome games this year. He'll win games for the Panthers if EVERYONE is playing hard. I'm getting worried about our defense a little more than Cam actually.

I like this article about QB accuracy:

http://www.midwestsportsfans.com/2010/09/importance-of-qb-accuracy-most-accurate-quarterbacks-current-all-time/

FUNDAMENTALS

Brian Billick “FUNDAMENTALS OF YOUR DELIVERY AND FUNDAMENTALS OF YOUR FEET are mandatory in being an accurate passer. You have to be very, very CONSISTENT. Your feet and follow through have to be very solid, so you can be an accurate passer in the pocket AND on the run.”

TOUGHNESS

Brian Billick “Toughness is required. You are going to take some hits when the defense is trying to pressure you with a rush. If you are bothered by defenders coming at you, then you are not going to be accurate because that’s the world you live in.”

DECISION MAKING

Steve Mariucci “Quarterbacks have to make A LOT of decisions. They have to make decisions at the line of scrimmage. They have to make decisions as to when do I throw the ball or when do I work through my progressions. They have to make decisions on when do I stay in the pocket or when do I escape from the pocket. ALL of this affects accuracy.”

TIMING

Steve Mariucci “Another part of the equation is your RECEIVERS RUNNING THE ROUTES TO THE DEPTH THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RUNNING, SO THE QUARTERBACK HAS A SENSE OF TIMING. The receivers have to be in sync with that quarterback. That’s where practice time, and weeks and months and years of experience add up to a higher completion percentage.”

PROTECTION

Gary Kubiak “GOOD QUARTERBACKS USUALLY HAVE A HECK OF AN OFFENSIVE LINE. It’s not just the quarterback throwing the ball accurately. It also has a lot to do with your protectors. I don’t care how good you are because you are NOT going to be able to do it yourself.”

Following are the quarterbacks with the highest CAREER COMPLETION PERCENTAGE in NFL history (min. 1,500 attempts):

Peyton Manning* Colts 64.89 132-62 (.680)

Steve Young* Buccaneers, 49ers 64.28 94-49 (.657)

If Cam's footwork was perfect, or close to perfect and he was having accuracy problems then I would be concerned, but if you go back and watch his inaccurate throws - they are the direct result of poor footwork and footwork can be fixed.

Think about his footwork at the combine compared to his footwork now... he's come a LONG way in a short amount of time doing something he hasn't been asked to do until this point.

It's a work-in-progress guys, relax.
